8.917-208.0 • HOT Operator Manual • Rev. 03/127PRESSURE WASHER OPERATOR’S MANUALINSTALLATIONPlace machine in a convenient location providingam ple support, drainage and room for maintenance. These machines are designed for indoor use. They must be stored indoors when not in use.Location:The location should protect the machine from dam-ag ing environmental conditions, such as wind, rain, and freezing temperatures. The machine should be run on a level surface whereit is not readily influenced by outside sources suchas strong winds, freezing temperatures, rain, etc.The machine should be located to allow accessibil-ity for re fi ll ing of fuel, adjustments and maintenance.Normal pre cau tions should be taken by the opera-tor of the machine to prevent excess moisture fromreach ing the power unit or electrical controls. It is recommended that a partition be made betweenthe wash area and the machine to prevent direct wa -ter spray from coming in contact with the machine.Ex cess mois ture reaching any electrical componentsor controls will reduce machine life and may causeelec tri cal shorts.During installation of the machine, beware of poorlyven ti lat ed locations or areas where exhaust fansmay cause an insuffi cient supply of oxygen. Suffi -cient combus tion can only be obtained when there isa suf ficient supply of oxygen available for the amountof fuel being burned. If it is necessary to install ama chine in a poorly ventilated area, outside freshair may have to be piped to the burner and a fanin stalled bringing the air into the machine.WARNING: Avoid small areas or areas near exhaustfans.ElectricalThe machine, when installed, must be electricallygrounded in accordance to local codes. Check forprop er power supply using a volt meter. TheHOT 2-1100, HOT 2-1500, and HOT 3-1100 eachrequire a 115V-20 amp recep ta cle to comply to theUL 1776 Standard.PlacementDo not locate near any combustible material.Keep all fl am ma ble material at least 20 feet away.Allow enough space for servicing the machine.Local code will require certain distances from floorand walls. (Two feet away should be adequate.)Water SourceWater source for machine should be supplied by a5/8" I.D. garden hose with a city water pressureof not less than 30 psi. If the water supply is inad-equate, or if the garden hose is kinked, the machinewill run very rough and the burner will not fi re.ConnectionConnect the wand, nozzle, hose and spray gun, where applicable (see Component Identification). On pipe thread connections, use teflon tape toavoid water leaks.VentingAdding exhaust vent pipe to your oil fired burner isnot recommended. The pipe restricts air fl ow whichcaus es carbon buildup, which affects the operation, and in creas es main te nance on the coil. If a stackmust be used, refrain from using 90° bends. If thepipe cannot go straight up then use only 45° bendsand go to the next larger size pipe. The overall pipelength must not exceed 6 feet. The addition of a ventpipe will require an air adjustment and smoke test.IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATIONFollow the maintenance instructionsspecifi ed in the manual.
