20MaintenanceMaintenance And ServiceUnloader ValvesUnloader valves relieve pressure in the line when theshut-off spray gun is closed. Unloader valves arepreset and tested at the factory before shipping. Occa-sional adjustment of the unloader may be necessary tomaintain correct pressure. (Contact your local dealerfor correct procedure in adjusting unloader valve.)Tampering with the factory setting may cause personalinjury and/or property damage, and will void the manu-facturer's warranty.Winterizing ProcedureDamage due to freezing is not covered by warranty.Adhere to the following cold weather procedureswhenever the washer must be stored or operatedoutdoors under freezing conditions.During winter months, when temperatures drop below32°F, protecting your machine against freezing isnecessary. Store the machine in a heated room. If thisis not possible then mix a 50/50 solution of anti-freeze/water into a 5 gallon bucket and with a short section ofgarden hose elevate the bucket and turn the pump onto siphon the anti-freeze through the machine. Ifcompressed air is available, an air fitting can bescrewed into the inlet connector and, by injectingcompressed air, all water will be blown out of thesystem.High Limit Hot Water ThermostatFor safety, each machine is equipped with a high limitcontrol switch. In the event the temperature of the watershould exceed its operating temperature, the high limitcontrol will turn the burner off until the water cools.PumpsUse only SAE 10W-40 weight non-foaming oil. Changeoil after first 50 hours of use. Thereafter, change oilevery year or at 500 hour intervals. Oil level should bechecked through use of the dipstick found on the top ofthe pump or by the red dot visible through the oil gaugewindow. Oil should be maintained at that level.Cleaning of CoilsIn alkaline water areas, lime deposits can accumulaterapidly inside the coil pipes. This growth is increased bythe extreme heat build up in the coil. The best preven-tion for liming conditions is to use high quality cleaningdetergents. In areas where alkaline water is an extremeproblem, periodic use of Landa Coil Descaler (part#8.914-296.0) will remove lime and other depositsbefore coil becomes plugged.Periodic descaling of the heating coil is recom-mended so please consult your local Landa Dealerfor instructions.Removal of Soot and Heating CoilIn the heating process, fuel residue in the form of sootdeposits may develop between the heating coil pipeand block air flow which will affect burner combustion. When soot has been detected on visual observation, the soot on the coil must be washed off after followingthe coil removal steps.1. Remove the tank head assembly by unscrewingthe three Tek screws and lifting the tank head off.2. Remove the two pipe nipples and associatedfittings.3. Lift the coil out of the outer wrap.CAUTION: The coil weighs about 80 lbs. Use properlifting techniques.4. Clean, repair and replace the coil by reversing theabove steps.Landa VHP 2-1500 / 3-2000 Operator’s Manual 8.913-949.0 - T
