5: Changing the UBox's SettingsUBox User Guide 36Discovery Mode Select the method the UBox should use to send its UDPdata.Broadcast: By default, the UBox uses this method tosend discover messages to UBox clients. Broadcastsends UDP messages to every Ethernet-connected deviceon your network. This is the best setting to use on smallnetworks, home networks, and networks where you havecomputers with multiple network interfaces (for example, acomputer with both wireless and wired connections).Multicast: Sends UDP messages using Multicast UDP.This method only sends discover messages to computersthat listen to the same multicast address that the UBoxuses.Multicast & Broadcast Uses both methods at the sametime.Note: If you change the UBox’s multicast address, youmust tell the UBox software to listen to the new address. You only need to change the multicast address if you areusing Multicast or Multicast & Broadcast as yourdiscovery method. (See Changing Local Software Settingson page 44.)Multicast Address The address on which the UBox will send discovermessages. You can enter any multicast address a long asit is in the range of 224.0.0.0 to 239.255.255.255. Defaultis 239.255.176.42.Note: You would only change this if the default changes, for example, if you have a router that needs a differentmulticast address to properly route traffic across aLAN/WAN.Editing Server Settings: USB Device Configuration TabThe USB Device Configuration tab on the Edit Server Configuration window showsUSB devices that are connected to the UBox and configuration records for eachdevice. On this tab, you make changes to USB devices connected to your UBox. Youcan configure: A USB device to require a password before you can access the device.
