en | 10 | VCX-32HD | Operation6.3 Coolant system pressure test Follow these instructions to perform a pressure teston the coolant system.1. Connect the PRESSURE/VACUUM HOSE using theappropriate adapter to the surge tank.2. Close the PRESSURE/VACUUM CONTROL VALVEbelow the control box.3. Flip the DRAIN SWITCH to ON.4. Open the PRESSURE/VACUUM CONTROL VALVEslowly. The pressure gauge on the control box willrise quickly. Close the PRESSURE/VACUUMCONTROL VALVE when pressure reaches themaximum 20 PSIG.5. Flip the DRAIN SWITCH to OFF.6. Check for leaks and pressure drop. Pressure shouldstabilize at pressure cap rating.7. After inspection, open the PRESSURE/VACUUMCONTROL VALVE to relieve the pressure.8. Disconnect the PRESSURE/VACUUM HOSE fromradiator.6.4 Drain kit installation with vacuum test A portion of coolant may need to be drained first toprevent overfilling while the system is under vacuum.Remove coolant from surge tank6.4.11. Connect the PICKUP TUBE (370 80283 00) suppliedwith the machine to the DRAIN/FILL HOSECOUPLER. Insert the tube into the fill port finding thelowest point.2. Flip the DRAIN SWITCH to ON.3. Open the FLOW CONTROL VALVE and the DRAINCONTROL VALVE.4. When air enters the filter, flip the DRAIN SWITCH toOFF and close both the FLOW CONTROL VALVEand the DRAIN CONTROL VALVE.5. Remove PICKUP TUBE and return it to the tool box.Install drain kit and/or vacuum test6.4.21. Connect the PRESSURE/VACUUM HOSE usingappropriate adapter (sold separately) to surge tank.2. Pinch or plug the radiator overflow tube.3. Flip FILL SWITCH to ON.4. Open the PRESSURE/VACUUM CONTROL VALVE.Vacuum will be applied to the surge tank.5. When maximum vacuum is reached on the control boxgauge, it is safe to install the drain kit. Vacuum shouldreach approximately 20in-Hg.6. Install the drain kit as quick as possible to keep leakageto a minimum. Allow vacuum to build to 20in-Hg andclose the PRESSURE/VACUUM CONTROL VALVEand flip the FILL SWITCH to OFF to perform thevacuum test. Check for the vacuum level to drop on thegauge.7. Open the PRESSURE/VACUUM CONTROL VALVEafter test to relieve vacuum.8. Unpinch/unplug the radiator overflow tube.
