-21-4.4 Adjusting for bevel cuts• To adjust the saw assembly for bevel cuts, put themachine in its starting position and support it suit-ably in order to enable the saw assembly to betilted.• Then undo the wing screw 10 (Fig. 2) and set theassembly to the desired angle which is displayedon the tilting segment.• Then retighten wing screw 10.4.5 Plunge cuts• Firstly, release the locking lever 11 (Fig. 2).• Move plunge lever 6 to the position marked „-2“on the scale 7.• Open the rectractable saw guard completely bymeans of the integrated handle 14 (Fig. 3), sothat the machine can be placed on the workpiece. The saw blade now rotates freely above the mate-rial and can be aligned with the marking.• Press down plunge lever 6 (Fig. 2) to lower the sawblade into the workpiece vertically. Read off the cut-ting depth on scale 7. The riving knife / splitter swingsup and away when the blade enters the workpiece. As soon as the riving knife is free behind the sawblade during the forward motion of the machine, theriving knife reverts to its normal position.4.6 Sawing to markingsThe base plate has tracing edges 17 (Fig. 3) bothfor straight cuts and for 30°, 45° and 60° bevel cuts. These tracing edges correspond to the inside of thesaw blade. For bevel cuts the marking can be seenthrough the opening on the left side of the upper sawguard (arrow, Fig. 2).• For sawing, hold the machine by the two handles andplace the front part of the base plate on the workpiece.• Switch on portable circular saw (see chapter 4.2)and push the machine steadily forwards in thedirection of the cut.• After completion of the cut, switch off the saw imme-diately by releasing the switch trigger 2 (Fig. 1).4.7 Sawing with parallel guide fenceThe parallel guide fence 4 (Fig. 1) is used when sawingparallel to an existing edge and it can be attached to theleft or right of the machine. The cutting width range isabout 190 mm (7 1/2 in.) on the right side and about340 mm (13 3/8 in.) on the left side.• To adjust the cutting width, release wing screws 9(Fig. 2) and move the fence accordingly.Retighten wing screws. The parallel guide fence can also be used as anextended support, providing improved guidance ofthe portable saw. To do so, simply turn it over (guidesurface for the workpiece edge faces up).• Now the machine can be guided along on either across bar fastened onto the workpiece or on aguide rail available as a special accessory.5 Service and maintenanceFor making bevel cuts, the angle can beset from 0 to 60°.Risk of kick-back with plunge cuts! Before inserting, the machine mustbe aliged with the rear edge of thebase plate to a stop securelyattached to the workpiece.During insertion, hold the machinetight on the handle and push for-wards slightly! It is very important to observe theinstructions with regard to sawingcontained in the chapter „Safetyinstructions“!It is very important to observe theinstructions with regard to sawingcontained in the chapter „Safetyinstructions“!Pull out the mains plug before start-ing on any maintenance work!MAFELL machines are designed to below in maintenance.
