-14-The relevant accident prevention regulations andother generally recognized industrial, medical andtechnical safety rules must be complied with.Unauthorized modifications to the machine preclude theliability of the manufacturer for any resultant damage.1.8 Residual risks Touching the saw blade in the open area. Breakage of the saw blade and risk of the blade-snapping off. Touching live parts with the housing open andthe mains plug not removed. Hearing can be impaired when working for longperiods without ear protectors. Emission of wood dust: a health hazard whenworking for long periods without dust extraction.2 Safety instructionsGeneral instructions: Never work without the protective equipmentprescribed for the relevant operation and do notmake any modifications to the machine thatcould undermine safety. Children and young persons must not operatethis machine. This rule does not apply to youngpersons receiving training and being supervisedby an expert. Prior to all work, make sure that the safety andoperating equipment is securely attached andundamaged. Damaged safety equipment andparts must be correctly repaired or exchanged. Always be aware of environmental influences.Do not allow the machine to be exposed to therain and do not use the machine in a damp orwet environment, or in the vicinity of inflamma-ble liquids and gases. When operating the machine outdoors, use of anearth-leakage circuit-breaker is recommended. Do not carry the machine by the cable and donot remove the mains plug from the socket bypulling on the cable. Protect the cable against oil and high tempera-tures and do not pull it over any sharp edges. Damaged cables or plugs must be renewedimmediately. Avoid sharp bends in the cable. Especially whentransporting and storing the machine, do notwind the cable around the machine. Works on the electrical components of the machineshould only be performed by a trained electrician. Store the machine in the dry under lock and keyand out of reach of children.Instructions on the use of personal safety equip-ment: Always wear close-fitting industrial clothing andremove rings, bracelets and watches. The sound pressure level at the workplace gen-erally exceeds 85 dB (A). Users should there-fore wear ear protectors.Instructions on operation: Connect the machine only with the mains if it isswitched off. Provide an uncluttered, anti-slip location withadequate illumination. Before the machine is switched on, ensure thatthe saw blade is properly tightened and that theprotective equipment is attached. Before tool changes, making adjustments andeliminating malfunctions (including the removalof trapped chips), pull out the mains plug. Never work with pieces which are too big or toosmall for the machine´s capacity. Whenever possible, secure the workpiece againstslipping (e.g. with screw clamps). Remove protective guards on the machine only-for changing tools. Never work without the pro-tective guards in place! Do not begin cutting until the saw blade hasreached full speed.Residual risks may also arise owingto the design of the machine relat-ing to its intended purpose even ifthe machine is used properly and incompliance with all relevant safetyregulations; e.g.:Woodworking machines can bedangerous when in use! You shouldtherefore always follow the safetyinstructions set out in this chapter,as well as the safety regulationsapplicable in the country of use!
