6To remove the bit, pull the sleeve in the direction of thearrow and pull the bit out firmly.NOTE:• If the bit is not inserted deep enough into the sleeve,the sleeve will not return to its original position and thebit will not be secured. In this case, try re-inserting thebit according to the instructions above.OPERATIONHold the tool firmly and place the point of the driver bit inthe screw head. Apply forward pressure to the tool to theextent that the bit will not slip off the screw. Start the toolslowly and then increase the speed gradually. Release theswitch trigger just as the screw bottoms out.The proper fastening torque differs depending upon thekind or size of the screw/bolt, the material of theworkpiece to be fastened, etc. Refer to the figure for therelation between fastening time and wood screw size.(Material to be fastened: Lauan)002839NOTE:• Use the proper bit for the head of the screw/bolt thatyou wish to use.• When fastening tool screws in a steel plate, the properfastening torque can be obtained in an extremely shorttime (approx. 0.1 - 0.2 seconds). Turn the tool off assoon as the impact sound is heard.• Hold the tool pointed straight at the screw or the screwand/or bit may be damaged.• When driving wood screws, predrill pilot holes to makedriving easier and to prevent splitting of the workpiece.The pilot holes should be slightly smaller than the woodscrews in diameter.• The size of wood screw which can be fastened with thistool may differ depending upon the type of material tobe fastened. Always perform a test operation todetermine the size of wood screw.• When fastening bolts or nuts, always perform a testoperation to verify the adequate fastening time for yourbolt or nut. Excessive fastening torque may damagethe bolt/nut or socket bit.MAINTENANCECAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before attempting to perform inspection ormaintenance.• Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner, alcohol or thelike. Discoloration, deformation or cracks may result.Replacing carbon brushesRemove and check the carbon brushes regularly. Replacewhen they wear down to the limit mark. Keep the carbonbrushes clean and free to slip in the holders. Both carbonbrushes should be replaced at the same time. Use onlyidentical carbon brushes. (Fig. 6)Use a screwdriver to remove the brush holder caps. Takeout the worn carbon brushes, insert the new ones andsecure the brush holder caps.
