15NOTE:• If the inner flange is removed be sure to install it on thespindle with its protrusion facing away from the blade. Ifthe flange is installed incorrectly the flange will rubagainst the machine. (Fig. 24 & 25)To install the blade, mount it carefully onto the spindle, making sure that the direction of the arrow on the surfaceof the blade matches the direction of the arrow on theblade case. Install the outer flange and hex socket bolt, and then use the hex wrench to tighten the hex socket bolt(left-handed) securely counterclockwise while pressingthe shaft lock.Return the blade guard and center cover to its originalposition. Then tighten the hex socket bolt clockwise tosecure the center cover. Release the handle from theraised position by pulling the stopper pin. Lower thehandle to make sure that the blade guard moves properly.Make sure the shaft lock has released spindle beforemaking cut.Dust bag (accessory) (Fig. 26)To attach the fastener, align the top end of the fastenerwith the triangular mark on the dust bag.The use of the dust bag makes cutting operations cleanerand dust collection easier. To attach the dust bag, fit itonto the dust nozzle. When the dust bag is about half full, remove the dust bagfrom the tool and pull the fastener out. Empty the dust bagof its contents, tapping it lightly so as to remove particlesadhering to the insides which might hamper furthercollection.NOTE:If you connect a vacuum cleaner to your saw, cleaneroperations can be performed.Securing workpieceWARNING:• It is extremely important to always secure theworkpiece correctly with the proper type of vise.Failure to do so may result in serious personal injuryand cause damage to the tool and/or the workpiece.• After a cutting operation do not raise the bladeuntil it has come to a complete stop. The raising of acoasting blade may result in serious personal injuryand damage to the workpiece.• When cutting a workpiece that is longer than thesupport base of the saw, the material should besupported the entire length beyond the supportbase and at the same height to keep the materiallevel. Proper workpiece support will help avoid bladepinch and possible kickback which may result inserious personal injury. Do not rely solely on thevertical vise and/or horizontal vise to secure theworkpiece. Thin material tends to sag. Supportworkpiece over its entire length to avoid blade pinchand possible KICKBACK. (Fig. 27)Vertical vise (Fig. 28)The vertical vise can be installed in two positions on eitherthe left or right side of the guide fence or the holderassembly (optional accessory). Insert the vise rod into thehole in the guide fence or the holder assembly and tightenthe screw to secure the vise rod.Position the vise arm according to the thickness andshape of the workpiece and secure the vise arm bytightening the screw. If the screw to secure the vise armcontacts the guide fence, install the screw on the oppositeside of vise arm. Make sure that no part of the toolcontacts the vise when lowering the handle fully andpulling or pushing the carriage all the way. If some partcontacts the vise, re-position the vise.Press the workpiece flat against the guide fence and theturn base. Position the workpiece at the desired cuttingposition and secure it firmly by tightening the vise knob.WARNING:• The workpiece must be secured firmly against theturn base and guide fence with the vise during alloperations. If the workpiece is not properly securedagainst the fence the material may move during thecutting operation causing possible damage to theblade, causing the material to be thrown and loss ofcontrol resulting in serious personal injury.Horizontal vise (optional accessory)(Fig. 29)The horizontal vise can be installed on the left side of thebase. By turning the vise knob counterclockwise, thescrew is released and the vise shaft can be moved rapidlyin and out. By turning the vise knob clockwise, the screwremains secured. To grip the workpiece, turn the viseknob gently clockwise until the projection reaches itstopmost position, then fasten securely. If the vise knob isforced in or pulled out while being turned clockwise, theprojection may stop at an angle. In this case, turn the viseknob back counterclockwise until the screw is released, before turning again gently clockwise. The maximum width of the workpiece which can besecured by the horizontal vise is 120 mm.WARNING:• Grip the workpiece only when the projection is atthe topmost position. Failure to do so may result ininsufficient securing of the workpiece. This could causethe workpiece to be thrown, cause damage to the bladeor cause the loss of control, which can result inPERSONAL INJURY.Holders and holder assembly (optionalaccessories) (Fig. 30)The holders and the holder assembly can be installed oneither side as a convenient means of supportingworkpieces horizontally. Install them as shown in thefigure. Then tighten the screws firmly to secure theholders and the holder assembly. When cutting long workpieces, use the holder-rodassembly (optional accessory). It consists of two holderassemblies and two rods 12. (Fig. 31)WARNING:• Always support a long workpiece so it is level withthe top surface of the turn base for an accurate cutand to prevent dangerous loss of tool control.Proper workpiece support will help avoid blade pinchand possible kickback which may result in seriouspersonal injury. |
