18facing so that they will not interfere with thepositioning of the material being cut. Misalignmentof the material being cut can case unexpectedmovement during the cutting operation which mayresult in a loss of control and serious personal injury.NOTICE:• When the wood facing is attached, do not turn the turnbase with the handle lowered. The blade and/or thewood facing will be damaged.8. Cutting repetitive lengths (Fig. 39)When cutting several pieces of stock to the samelength, ranging from 220 mm to 385 mm, use of theset plate (optional accessory) will facilitate moreefficient operation. Install the set plate on the holder(optional accessory) as shown in the figure.Align the cutting line on your workpiece with either theleft or right side of the groove in the kerf board, andwhile holding the workpiece from moving, move theset plate flush against the end of the workpiece. Thensecure the set plate with the screw. When the setplate is not used, loosen the screw and turn the setplate out of the way.NOTE:• Use of the holder-rod assembly (optional accessory)allows cutting repetitive lengths up to 2,200 mmapproximately.9. Groove cutting (Fig. 40)A dado type cut can be made by proceeding asfollows:Adjust the lower limit position of the blade using theadjusting screw and the stopper arm to limit the cuttingdepth of the blade. Refer to “Stopper arm” sectiondescribed on previously. After adjusting the lower limit position of the blade, cutparallel grooves across the width of the workpieceusing a slide (push) cut as shown in the figure. Thenremove the workpiece material between the grooveswith a chisel.WARNING:• Do not attempt to perform this type of cut by usinga wider type blade or dado blade. Attempting tomake a groove cut with a wider blade or dado bladecould lead to unexpected cutting results and kickbackwhich may result in serious personal injury.• Be sure to return the stopper arm to the originalposition when performing other than groovecutting. Attempting to make cuts with the stopper armin the incorrect position could lead to unexpectedcutting results and kickback which may result in seriouspersonal injury.Carrying tool (Fig. 41 & 42)Make sure that the battery cartridge is removed. Securethe blade at 0° bevel angle and the turn base at the fullright miter angle position. Secure the slide poles so thatthe lower slide pole is locked in the position of the carriagefully pulled to operator and the upper poles are locked inthe position of the carriage fully pushed forward to theguide fence. Lower the handle fully and lock it in thelowered position by pushing in the stopper pin.Carry the tool by holding both sides of the tool base asshown in the figure. If you remove the holders, dust bag, etc., you can carry the tool more easily.CAUTION:• Always secure all moving portions before carrying thetool. If portions of the tool move or slide while beingcarried loss of control or balance may occur resulting inpersonal injury.WARNING:• Stopper pin is only for carrying and storagepurposes and should never be used for any cuttingoperations. The use of the stopper pin for cuttingoperations may cause unexpected movement of thesaw blade resulting in kickback and serious personalinjury.MAINTENANCECAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off and thebattery cartridge is removed before attempting toperform inspection or maintenance.WARNING:• Always be sure that the blade is sharp and cleanfor the best and safest performance. Attempting acut with a dull and /or dirty blade may cause kickbackand result in a serious personal injury.NOTICE:• Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner, alcohol or thelike. Discoloration, deformation or cracks may result.Adjusting the cutting angleThis tool is carefully adjusted and aligned at the factory, but rough handling may have affected the alignment. Ifyour tool is not aligned properly, perform the following:1. Miter anglePush the carriage toward the guide fence and tightentwo clamp screws to secure the carriage.Loosen the grip which secures the turn base. Turn theturn base so that the pointer points to 0° on the miterscale. Then turn the turn base slightly clockwise andcounterclockwise to seat the turn base in the 0° miternotch. (Leave as it is if the pointer does not point to0°.) (Fig. 43)Loosen the hex socket bolt securing the guide fence usingthe hex wrench.Lower the handle fully and lock it in the loweredposition by pushing in the stopper pin. Square the sideof the blade with the face of the guide fence using atriangular rule, try-square, etc. Then securely tightenthe hex socket bolt on the guide fence in order startingfrom the right side. (Fig. 44 & 45)Make sure that the pointer points to 0° on the miterscale. If the pointer does not point to 0°, loosen thescrew which secures the pointer and adjust the pointerso that it will point to 0°.2. Bevel angle(1) 0° bevel anglePush the carriage toward the guide fence andtighten two clamp screws to secure the carriage.Lower the handle fully and lock it in the loweredposition by pushing in the stopper pin.
