6Electric brakeThis tool is equipped with an electric brake. If the toolconsistently fails to quickly stop after switch triggerrelease, have tool serviced at a Makita service center.Lighting up the front lamp1007156CAUTION:• Do not look in the light or see the source of lightdirectly.Pull the switch trigger to light up the lamp. The lampkeeps on lighting while the switch trigger is being pulled.The light automatically goes out 10 - 15 seconds after theswitch trigger is released.NOTE:• Use a dry cloth to wipe the dirt off the lens of lamp.Be careful not to scratch the lens of lamp, or it maylower the illumination.Reversing switch action1A B007157This tool has a reversing switch to change the direction ofrotation. Depress the reversing switch lever from the Aside for clockwise rotation or from the B side forcounterclockwise rotation.When the reversing switch lever is in the neutral position,the switch trigger cannot be pulled.CAUTION:• Always check the direction of rotation beforeoperation.• Use the reversing switch only after the tool comesto a complete stop. Changing the direction ofrotation before the tool stops may damage the tool.• When not operating the tool, always set thereversing switch lever to the neutral position.Selecting the action modeThis tool employs an action mode changing lever. Selectone of the four modes suitable for your work needs byusing this lever.For rotation with impact, turn the lever so that the arrowon the lever points toward the mark on the tool body.1007158For rotation with hammering, turn the lever so that thearrow points toward the mark on the tool body.1007159For rotation with clutch, turn the lever so that the arrowpoints toward the mark on the tool body.1007160For rotation only, turn the lever so that the arrow on thelever points toward the mark or the mark on thetool body.1007161Sliding to the mark is high rotation and the markis low rotation.1.
