59. Wear personal protective equipment. Dependingon application, use face shield, safety goggles orsafety glasses. As appropriate, wear dust mask, hearing protectors, gloves and shop aproncapable of stopping small abrasive or workpiecefragments. The eye protection must be capable ofstopping flying debris generated by variousoperations. The dust mask or respirator must becapable of filtrating particles generated by youroperation. Prolonged exposure to high intensity noisemay cause hearing loss.10. Keep bystanders a safe distance away from workarea. Anyone entering the work area must wearpersonal protective equipment. Fragments ofworkpiece or of a broken wheel may fly away andcause injury beyond immediate area of operation.11. Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfacesonly, when performing an operation where thecutting accessory may contact hidden wiring.Cutting accessory contacting a “live” wire may makeexposed metal parts of the power tool “live” and couldgive the operator an electric shock.12. Position the cord clear of the spinning accessory. If you lose control, the cord may be cut or snaggedand your hand or arm may be pulled into the spinningwheel.13. Never lay the power tool down until the accessoryhas come to a complete stop. The spinning wheelmay grab the surface and pull the power tool out ofyour control.14. Do not run the power tool while carrying it at yourside. Accidental contact with the spinning accessorycould snag your clothing, pulling the wheel into yourbody.15. Regularly clean the power tool’s air vents. Themotor’s fan will draw the dust inside the housing andexcessive accumulation of powdered metal maycause electrical hazards.16. Do not operate the power tool near flammablematerials. Sparks could ignite these materials.17. Always wear hearing protection.Kickback and related warningsKickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched or snaggedrotating wheel. Pinching or snagging causes rapid stallingof the rotating wheel which in turn causes the uncontrolledpower tool to be forced in the direction opposite of thewheel’s rotation at the point of the binding. For example, if an abrasive wheel is snagged or pinchedby the workpiece, the edge of the wheel that is enteringinto the pinch point can dig into the surface of the materialcausing the wheel to climb out or kick out. The wheel mayeither jump toward or away from the operator, dependingon direction of the wheel’s movement at the point ofpinching. Abrasive wheels may also break under theseconditions.Kickback is the result of power tool misuse and/orincorrect operating procedures or conditions and can beavoided by taking proper precautions as given below.18. Maintain a firm grip on the power tool and positionyour body and arm to allow you to resist kickbackforces. Always use auxiliary handle, if provided, for maximum control over kickback or torquereaction during start-up. The operator can controltorque reactions or kickback forces, if properprecautions are taken.19. Never place your hand near the rotatingaccessory. Accessory may kickback over your hand.20. Do not position your body in line with the rotatingwheel. Kickback will propel the tool in directionopposite to the wheel’s movement at the point ofsnagging.21. Use special care when working corners, sharpedges etc. Avoid bouncing and snagging theaccessory. Corners, sharp edges or bouncing have atendency to snag the rotating accessory and causeloss of control or kickback.22. Do not attach a saw chain, woodcarving blade, segmented diamond wheel with a peripheral gapgreater than 10 mm or toothed saw blade. Suchblades create frequent kickback and loss of control.23. Do not “jam” the wheel or apply excessivepressure. Do not attempt to make an excessivedepth of cut. Overstressing the wheel increases theloading and susceptibility to twisting or binding of thewheel in the cut and the possibility of kickback orwheel breakage.24. When wheel is binding or when interrupting a cutfor any reason, switch off the power tool and holdthe power tool motionless until the wheel comesto a complete stop. Never attempt to remove thewheel from the cut while the wheel is in motionotherwise kickback may occur. Investigate and takecorrective action to eliminate the cause of wheelbinding.25. Do not restart the cutting operation in theworkpiece. Let the wheel reach full speed andcarefully re-enter the cut. The wheel may bind, walkup or kickback if the power tool is restarted in theworkpiece.26. Support panels or any oversized workpiece tominimize the risk of wheel pinching and kickback.Large workpieces tend to sag under their own weight.Supports must be placed under the workpiece nearthe line of cut and near the edge of the workpiece onboth sides of the wheel.27. Use extra caution when making a “pocket cut”into existing walls or other blind areas. Theprotruding wheel may cut gas or water pipes, electricalwiring or objects that can cause kickback.SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.WARNING:DO NOT let comfort or familiarity with product (gainedfrom repeated use) replace strict adherence to safetyrules for the subject product. MISUSE or failure tofollow the safety rules stated in this instructionmanual may cause serious personal injury.IMPORTANT SAFETYINSTRUCTIONS ENC009-1FOR BATTERY CARTRIDGE1.
