7Installing or removing diamond wheel(Fig. 6)CAUTION:• When installing the diamond wheel, be sure to tightenthe bolt securely.• Use only the Makita wrench to install or remove thediamond wheel.To remove the diamond wheel, press the shaft lock fullyso that the diamond wheel cannot revolve and use thewrench to loosen the hex bolt counterclockwise. Thenremove the hex bolt, outer flange and diamond wheel.(Fig. 7)To install the diamond wheel, follow the removalprocedure in reverse. Always install the diamond wheel sothat the arrow on the diamond wheel points in the samedirection as the arrow on the diamond wheel case.BE SURE TO TIGHTEN THE HEX BOLT SECURELY.(Fig. 8)NOTE:• If a inner flange is removed by chance, install the innerflange so that its protrusion (bigger side) faces insideas shown in the figure.Hex wrench storage (Fig. 9)When not in use, store the hex wrench as shown in thefigure to keep it from being lost.Installing water supplyLoosen the screw A. Slide the tank holder all the way overthe motor housing. Position the notch of the tank holderpositions just below the screw head as illustrated. Thentighten the screw A. (Fig. 10)Attach the tank on the tank holder so that the tank holderfits between the step and dots. Connect the cap on thetube end to the mouth of the tank. Turn the tankclockwise. Then tighten the screw B. (Fig. 11)Water supply (Fig. 12 & 13)Be sure that the water supply cock is closed before fillingthe tank with water. Open the cap on the tank and fill thewater. Recap the tank.CAUTION:• When filling the tank with water, be careful not to let thetool get wet.OPERATION (Fig. 14)Hold the tool firmly. Set the base plate on the workpiece tobe cut without the wheel making any contact. Then turnthe tool on and wait until the wheel attains full speed.Feed water to the wheel by adjusting the water supplycock to obtain a gentle flow of water. Move the toolforward over the workpiece surface, keeping it flat andadvancing smoothly until the cutting is completed. Keepyour cutting line straight and your speed of advanceuniform.For fine, clean cuts, cut slowly. (When cutting glass plate5 mm thick, cut at about 250 mm/min. When cutting tile10 mm thick, cut at about 300 mm/min.) Also slow downas you complete a cut to avoid breaking or cracking theworkpiece being cut.CAUTION:• Be sure to hold the workpiece firmly down on a stablebench or table during operation.• Do not twist or force the tool in the cut, or the motormay be overloaded or the workpiece may break.• Do not use the tool with the diamond wheel in anupward or sideways position.• The wheel for this tool is a wet-type diamond wheel forglass and tile applications. Be sure to feed water to thediamond wheel during operation.• If the cutting action of the diamond wheel begins todiminish, dress the cutting edge of the wheel using anold discarded coarse grit bench grinder wheel orconcrete block. Dress by pressing lightly on the outeredge of the diamond wheel.NOTE:• When the battery cartridge temperature is low, the toolmay not work to its full capacity. At this time, forexample, use the tool for a light-duty cut for a whileuntil the battery cartridge warms up as high as roomtemperature. Then, the tool can work to its full capacity.• Make sure that the water supply cock is closed beforeoperation.MAINTENANCECAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off and thebattery cartridge is removed before attempting toperform inspection or maintenance.• Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner, alcohol or thelike. Discoloration, deformation or cracks may result.To maintain product SAFETY and RELIABILITY, repairs,any other maintenance or adjustment should beperformed by Makita Authorized Service Centers, alwaysusing Makita replacement parts.OPTIONAL ACCESSORIESCAUTION:• These accessories or attachments are recommendedfor use with your Makita tool specified in this manual.The use of any other accessories or attachments mightpresent a risk of injury to persons.
