If applianceis not working as it should, has been dropped,damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water,return it to a service center.5. Do not handle appliance with wet hands.6. Do not put any object into openings. Do not usewith any opening blocked; keep free of dust,lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.7. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all partsof body away from openings and moving parts.8. Turn off all controls before removing the battery.9. Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.10. Do not use to pick up flammable or combusti-ble liquids, such as gasoline, or use in areaswhere they may be present.11. Use only the charger supplied by the manufac-turer to recharge.12. Do not pick up anything that is burning or smok-ing, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.13. Do not use without dust bag and/or filters in place.14. Do not charge the battery outdoors.15. Recharge only with the charger specified bythe manufacturer. A charger that is suitable forone type of battery pack may create a risk of firewhen used with another battery pack.16. Use power tools only with specifically desig-nated battery packs. Use of any other batterypacks may create a risk of injury and fire.17. When (the) battery pack is not in use, keepit away from other metal objects, like paperclips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other smallmetal objects, that can make a connectionfrom one terminal to another.18. Under abusive conditions, liquid may beejected from the battery; avoid contact. Before using battery cartridge, read all instruc-tions and cautionary markings on (1) battery char-ger, (2) battery, and (3) product using battery.2. Do not disassemble battery cartridge.3. If operating time has become excessivelyshorter, stop operating immediately. It mayresult in a risk of overheating, possible burnsand even an explosion.4. If electrolyte gets into your eyes, rinse themout with clear water and seek medical atten-tion right away. It may result in loss of youreyesight.5. Do not short the battery cartridge:(1) Do not touch the terminals with any con-ductive material.(2) Avoid storing battery cartridge in a con-tainer with other metal objects such asnails, coins, etc.(3) Do not expose battery cartridge to wateror rain.A battery short can cause a large currentflow, overheating, possible burns and even abreakdown.6. Do not store the tool and battery cartridge inlocations where the temperature may reach orexceed 50 °C (122 °F).7. Do not incinerate the battery cartridge even ifit is severely damaged or is completely wornout. The battery cartridge can explode in a fire.8. Be careful not to drop or strike battery.9. Do not use a damaged battery.10. The contained lithium-ion batteries are subjectto the Dangerous Goods Legislation require-ments.For commercial transports e.g. by third parties,forwarding agents, special requirement on pack-aging and labeling must be observed.For preparation of the item being shipped, consult-ing an expert for hazardous material is required.Please also observe possibly more detailednational regulations.Tape or mask off open contacts and pack up thebattery in such a manner that it cannot movearound in the packaging.11. Follow your local regulations relating to dis-posal of battery.12. Use the batteries only with the productsspecified by Makita.
