7FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTIONCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off and thebattery cartridge is removed before adjusting orchecking function on the tool.Installing or removing battery cartridgeFig.1CAUTION:• Always switch off the tool before installing orremoving of the battery cartridge.• Hold the tool and the battery cartridge firmlywhen installing or removing battery cartridge.Failure to hold the tool and the battery cartridgefirmly may cause them to slip off your hands andresult in damage to the tool and battery cartridgeand a personal injury.To remove the battery cartridge, slide it from the toolwhile sliding the button on the front of the cartridge.To install the battery cartridge, align the tongue on thebattery cartridge with the groove in the housing and slipit into place. Insert it all the way until it locks in placewith a little click. If you can see the red indicator on theupper side of the button, it is not locked completely.CAUTION:• Always install the battery cartridge fully until thered indicator cannot be seen. If not, it mayaccidentally fall out of the tool, causing injury toyou or someone around you.• Do not install the battery cartridge forcibly. If thecartridge does not slide in easily, it is not beinginserted correctly.Tool / battery protection systemThe tool is equipped with a tool/battery protectionsystem. This system automatically cuts off power to themotor to extend tool and battery life.The tool will automatically stop during operation if thetool or battery are placed under one of the followingconditions. In some conditions, the indicators light up.Fig.2Overheat protection for toolWhen the tool is overheated, the tool stopsautomatically and the indicator blinks about 60 seconds.In this situation, let the tool cool before turning the toolon again.Overheat protection for batteryWhen the battery is overheated, the tool stopsautomatically and the battery indicator lights up about60 seconds. The tool does not start even if pulling theswitch trigger. In this situation, let the battery cool beforeturning the tool on again.NOTE:The battery overheat protection works only with abattery cartridge with a star marking.Fig.3Overdischarge protectionWhen the remaining battery capacity gets low, theindicator blinks. By further use, the tool stops and theindicator lights up about 60 seconds. The trigger lock makes the triggerunmovable and let the tool cause no firing.To lock the trigger, set the lock button in the "LOCK"position.Before nailing, set the lock button in the " FREE"position. When not in use, always set it in the "LOCK"position and remove the battery cartridge from the tool.
