9 ENGLISHInstalling hookCAUTION: When installing the hook, alwayssecure it with the screw firmly. If not, the hookmay come off from the tool and result in the personalinjury.CAUTION: Use the hanging/mounting partsfor their intended purposes only. Using for unin-tended purpose may cause accident or personalinjury.► Fig.12: 1. Groove 2. Hook 3. ScrewThe hook is convenient for temporarily hanging the tool.This can be installed on either side of the tool. To installthe hook, insert it into a groove in the tool housing oneither side and then secure it with a screw. To remove,loosen the screw and then take it out.NOTICE: When hanging the tool on your beltusing the hook, remove the bit and the side grip.Installing driver bit holderOptional accessory► Fig.13: 1. Driver bit holder 2. Driver bitFit the driver bit holder into the protrusion at the tool footon either right or left side and secure it with a screw.When not using the driver bit, keep it in the driver bit hold-ers. Driver bits 45 mm-long (1-3/4") can be kept there.OPERATIONHold the tool firmly with one hand on the grip and theother hand on the handle to control the twisting action.► Fig.14NOTICE: When the speed comes down extremely,reduce the load or stop the tool to avoid the tooldamage.NOTICE: Do not cover vents, or it may cause over-heating and damage to the tool.► Fig.15: 1. VentScrewdriving operationCAUTION: Adjust the adjusting ring to theproper torque level for your work.CAUTION: Make sure that the driver bit isinserted straight in the screw head, or the screwand/or driver bit may be damaged.First, turn the adjusting ring so that the arrow on the toolbody points to the proper fastening torque level (1 - 21).Place the point of the driver bit in the screw head andapply pressure to the tool. Start the tool slowly and thenincrease the speed gradually. Release the switch triggeras soon as the clutch cuts in.NOTE: When driving wood screw, pre-drill a pilot hole2/3 the diameter of the screw. It makes driving easierand prevents splitting of the workpiece.Hammer drilling operationCAUTION: There is a tremendous and suddentwisting force exerted on the tool/drill bit at thetime of hole breakthrough, when the hole becomesclogged with chips and particles, or when strikingreinforcing rods embedded in the concrete.First, turn the adjusting ring so that the arrow on the toolbody points to the marking.Be sure to use a tungsten-carbide tipped drill bit.Position the drill bit at the desired location for the hole,then pull the switch trigger. Do not force the tool. Lightpressure gives best results. Keep the tool in positionand prevent it from slipping away from the hole.Do not apply more pressure when the hole becomes clogged withchips or particles. Instead, run the tool at an idle, then remove thedrill bit partially from the hole. By repeating this several times, thehole will be cleaned out and normal drilling may be resumed.Blow-out bulbOptional accessory► Fig.16: 1. Blow-out bulbAfter drilling the hole, use the blow-out bulb to clean thedust out of the hole.Drilling operationCAUTION: Pressing excessively on the tool willnot speed up the drilling. In fact, this excessive pressurewill only serve to damage the tip of your drill bit, decreasethe tool performance and shorten the service life of the tool.CAUTION: Hold the tool firmly and exert carewhen the drill bit begins to break through theworkpiece. There is a tremendous force exerted onthe tool/drill bit at the time of hole break through.CAUTION: A stuck drill bit can be removedsimply by setting the reversing switch to reverserotation in order to back out. However, the toolmay back out abruptly if you do not hold it firmly.CAUTION: Always secure workpieces in avise or similar hold-down device.CAUTION: If the tool is operated continuously untilthe battery cartridge has discharged, allow the tool to restfor 15 minutes before proceeding with a fresh battery.First, turn the adjusting ring so that the arrow points tothe marking. Then proceed as follows.Drilling in woodWhen drilling in wood, the best results are obtained withwood drills equipped with a guide screw. The guide screwmakes drilling easier by pulling the drill bit into the workpiece.Drilling in metalTo prevent the drill bit from slipping when starting ahole, make an indentation with a center-punch andhammer at the point to be drilled. Place the point of thedrill bit in the indentation and start drilling.Use a cutting lubricant when drilling metals. The excep-tions are iron and brass which should be drilled dry.
