7FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTIONCAUTION:• Always be sure that the cleaner is switched off andthe battery cartridge is removed before adjusting orchecking function on the cleaner.Installing or removing battery cartridgeFig.1CAUTION:• Always switch off the cleaner before installing orremoving of the battery cartridge.• Hold the cleaner and the battery cartridgefirmly when installing or removing batterycartridge. Failure to hold the cleaner and thebattery cartridge firmly may cause them to slip offyour hands and result in damage to the cleaner andbattery cartridge and a personal injury.To remove the battery cartridge, slide it from the cleanerwhile sliding the button on the front of the cartridge.To install the battery cartridge, align the tongue on thebattery cartridge with the groove in the housing and slip itinto place. Insert it all the way until it locks in place with alittle click. If you can see the red indicator on the upperside of the button, it is not locked completely.CAUTION:• Always install the battery cartridge fully until the redindicator cannot be seen. If not, it may accidentallyfall out of the cleaner, causing injury to you orsomeone around you.• Do not install the battery cartridge forcibly. If thecartridge does not slide in easily, it is not beinginserted correctly.Battery protection systemThe cleaner is equipped with the protection system, whichautomatically cuts off the output power for its long service life.The cleaner stops during operation when the cleanerand/or battery are placed under the following situation.This is caused by the activation of protection system anddoes not show the cleaner trouble.• When the cleaner is overloaded:At this time, press the "OFF" button andremove causes of overload and then pressthe "HIGH/LOW" button again to restart.• When battery cells get hot: (refer to the note below.)If any operation of the "HIGH/LOW" buttonand the "OFF" button, the motor will remainstopped. At this time, stop use of the cleanerand cool or charge the battery cartridge afterremoving it from the cleaner.• When the remaining battery capacity gets low:If any operation of the "HIGH/LOW" buttonand the "OFF" button, the motor will remainstopped. To change thecleaner speed, press the "HIGH/LOW" button. The firstpress on this button is for high speed and the secondpress for low speed and then each press on this buttonrepeats the high/low speed cycle alternatively.ASSEMBLYCAUTION:• Always be sure that the cleaner is switched off andthe battery cartridge is removed before carrying outany work on the cleaner.• Any work with the battery cartridge being installedon the cleaner may cause a personal injury ordamage to the objects around the cleaner.
