BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINEChecking and reill of engine oilCAUTION: When reilling with engine oil, stop the engineand wait for the engine to cool down. Otherwise skin burn mayresult.NOTICE: Use of deteriorated oil will cause irregular start-up.NOTICE: Remove dust or dirt near the oil reill port beforedetaching the oil cap. Also, keep the detached oil cap free ofsand or dust. Otherwise, any sand or dust adhering to the oil capmay cause irregular oil circulation or wear on the engine parts, which will result in troubles.1243Ź 1. Oil gauge 2. Make sure that the oil level is within the upperand lower limit marks. If the oil is not up to the 100 ml level, ill up withnew oil.Change the oil whenever it becomes dirty or signiicantly changescolor. (Refer to “Replacing engine oil” for the oil change procedureand frequency.)ReillPut the blower on a lat surface and remove the oil cap.Fill the oil up to the upper limit of the oil level gauge. On average, engine oil needs to be added after every 20 hours ofoperation (every 10 – 15 refuellings).Recommended oil• Makita genuine 4-stroke engine oil or• API grade SF class or higher, SAE 10W-30 oil (automobile4-stroke engine oil)Oil capacityApproximately 220 mlNOTICE: Store the blower in an upright position on lat sur-face. The oil gauge does not indicate correct amount of oil if theblower is leaned and oil is lown into the engine. It m ay result inilling too much oil.NOTICE: Do not ill with excessive oil. Excessive oil may spillfrom the breather of the air cleaner and make surrounding partsdirty, or white smoke may appear due to burning oil. After reilling with oilWipe spilled oil with a rag.Fuel supplyWARNING: When refuelling, stop the engine and wait forthe engine to cool down. Otherwise ignition, ire, or skin burn mayresult.WARNING: Fuel supply must be made in a place free of ireto prevent ignition or ire. Never bring the ire (smoking, etc.)near the place of fuel supply.WARNING: Refuel on lat surface. Do not refuel on unsta-ble place. Refuel in good light and visibility.WARNING: Open the fuel tank cap slowly. The fuel may bespilled out by internal pressure.WARNING: Take care not to spill the fuel. Wipe spilled fuel.WARNING: Carry out fuel supply in a well-ventilated place.WARNING: Refuel at open clear place.WARNING: Handle the fuel with care.CAUTION: Fuel sticking to the skin or entering an eye maycause allergies or irritation. When any physical abnormality isdetected, consult the medical specialist immediately.NOTICE: DO NOT put oil in the fuel tank.FuelWARNING: Keep the machine and tank at a cool place freefrom direct sunshine.WARNING: Never keep the fuel in a car.The engine is a four-stroke engine. Be sure to use an automobile gas-oline (regular gasoline or premium gasoline).NOTICE: Never use gasoline mixed with any oil such as 2stroke oil or motor oil. Otherwise, fuel may deteriorate in one day.Refuelling methodCAUTION: If there is any law or damage on the tank cap, replace it.CAUTION: The tank cap wears out in course of time. Replaceit every two to three years.NOTICE: DO NOT put fuel in the oil ill port.1. Loosen the tank cap a little to release the tank pressure.2. Detach the tank cap, and refuel, with discharging air by tilting thefuel tank so that the refuel port is oriented upward. DO NOT ill fuel upto the top of the tank.3. After refuelling, securely tighten the tank cap.8 ENGLISH
