21 ENGLISHMAINTENANCECAUTION: Always be sure that the tool isswitched off and the battery cartridge is removed beforeattempting to perform inspection or maintenance.CAUTION: Clean out the upper and lower guardsto ensure there is no accumulated sawdust which mayimpede the operation of the lower guarding system. Adirty guarding system may limit the proper operation whichcould result in serious personal injury. The most effectiveway to accomplish this cleaning is with compressed air. Ifthe dust is being blown out of the guards, be sure theproper eye and breathing protection is used.CAUTION: After each use, wipe off the sawdust on the tool. Fine saw dust may come inside thetool and cause malfunction or a fire.NOTICE: Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner,alcohol or the like. Discoloration, deformation orcracks may result.To maintain product SAFETY and RELIABILITY,repairs, any other maintenance or adjustment shouldbe performed by Makita Authorized or Factory ServiceCenters, always using Makita replacement parts.Adjusting 0°-cut accuracyThis adjustment has been made at the factory. But if it isoff, you can adjust it as the following procedure.1. Slightly loosen the lever on the bevel scale plate.2. Make the base perpendicular to the blade using a tri-angular rule or square rule by turning the adjusting screw.► Fig.44: 1. Triangular rule 2. Adjusting screw 3. Lever3.
