6FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTIONCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before adjusting or checking function on thetool.Adjusting the shoe (Fig. 1 & 2)CAUTION:• Secure the shoe firmly after reposition the shoe. When the blade loses its cutting efficiency in one placealong its cutting edge, reposition the shoe to utilize asharp, unused portion of its cutting edge. This will help tolengthen the life of the blade. To reposition the shoe, peel off the cover and loosen theclamping screw with the hex wrench as shown in the fig-ure.Slide the shoe forward or back to the desired position, then tighten the clamping screw to firmly secure the shoe.(Fig. 3)Switch action (Fig. 4)CAUTION:• Before plugging in the tool, always check to see thatthe switch lever actuates properly and returns to the“OFF” position when released. To start the tool, simply pull the switch lever. Tool speed isincreased by increasing pressure on the switch lever.Release the switch lever to stop.Speed adjusting dial (Fig. 5)The maximum strokes per minute with the switch leverbeing fully depressed can be adjusted just by turning thespeed adjusting dial.Turn the speed adjusting dial clockwise for higher speed, and counterclockwise for lower speed.Lighting up the lamps (Fig. 6)CAUTION:• Do not look in the light or see the source of lightdirectly. To turn on the lamp, pull the switch lever. Release theswitch lever to turn it off.NOTE:• Use a dry cloth to wipe the dirt off the lens of lamp. Becareful not to scratch the lens of lamp, or it may lowerthe illumination.• Do not use thinner or gasoline to clean the lamp. Suchsolvents may damage it.ASSEMBLYCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before carrying out any work on the tool.Installing or removing the saw bladeCAUTION:• Always clean out all chips or foreign matter adhering tothe blade and/or blade clamp. Failure to do so maycause insufficient tightening of the blade, resulting in aserious injury.• Do not touch the blade or the workpiece immediatelyafter operation; they may be extremely hot and couldburn your skin.• Tighten the saw blade securely. Failure to do so maycause a serious injury.• When you remove the saw blade, be careful not to hurtyour fingers with the top of the blade or the tips of work-piece.• Use B type saw blade only. Never use other typeblade. Failure to do so may cause a serious injury. To install the saw blade, push the holder cover to rotatethe blade clamp to the released position as shown in thefigure. (Fig. 7)Keeping that situation, insert the saw blade into the bladeclamp as far as the two protrusions of the blade can notbe seen. (Fig. 8)Release the holder cover. The blade clamp will rotate toits fixed position to secure the blade. After installing, always make sure that the blade issecurely held in place by trying to pull it out. (Fig. 9)To remove the blade, push the holder cover to rotate theblade clamp to the released position, then pull the sawblade out. (Fig. 10)OPERATION (FIG. 11)CAUTION:• Always press the shoe firmly against the workpieceduring operation. If the shoe is held away from theworkpiece during operation, strong vibration and/ortwisting will be produced, causing the blade to snapdangerously.• Always wear gloves to protect your hands from hot fly-ing chips when cutting metal.• Be sure to always wear suitable eye protection whichconforms with current national standards.• Always use a suitable coolant (cutting oil) when cuttingmetal. Failure to do so will cause premature bladewear.• Hold the tool firmly with one hand on front but neverbeyond the collar and the other on the rear housing asshown in the figure. Failure to do so will cause a seri-ous injury.Press the shoe firmly against the workpiece. Do not allowthe tool to bounce. Bring the blade into light contact withthe workpiece. First, make a pilot groove using a slowerspeed. Then use a faster speed to continue cutting. (Fig.12)
