22Cleaning of the lens for the laser light123005703If the lens for the laser light becomes dirty, or sawdustadheres to it in such a way that the laser line is no longereasily visible, unplug the saw and remove and clean thelens for the laser light carefully with a damp, soft cloth.Do not use solvents or any petroleum-based cleaners onthe lens.1005704To remove the lens for the laser light, remove the sawblade before removing the lens according to theinstructions in the section titled "Installing or removingsaw blade".Loosen but do not remove the screw which secures thelens using a screwdriver.Pull out the lens as shown in the figure.NOTE:• If the lens does not come out, loosen the screwfurther and pull out the lens again without removingthe screw.Replacing carbon brushes1001145Remove and check the carbon brushes regularly.Replace when they wear down to the limit mark. Keepthe carbon brushes clean and free to slip in the holders.Both carbon brushes should be replaced at the sametime. Use only identical carbon brushes.Use a screwdriver to remove the brush holder caps. Takeout the worn carbon brushes, insert the new ones andsecure the brush holder caps.12003946After replacing brushes, plug in the tool and break inbrushes by running tool with no load for about 10 minutes.Then check the tool while running and electric brakeoperation when releasing the switch trigger. If electricbrake is not working well, ask your local Makita servicecenter for repair.After use• After use, wipe off chips and dust adhering to thetool with a cloth or the like. Keep the blade guardclean according to the directions in the previouslycovered section titled "Blade guard". Lubricate thesliding portions with machine oil to prevent rust.• When storing the tool, pull the carriage toward youfully so that the slide pole is thoroughly inserted intothe turn base.To maintain product SAFETY and RELIABILITY, repairs,any other maintenance or adjustment should beperformed by Makita Authorized or Factory ServiceCenters, always using Makita replacement parts.OPTIONAL ACCESSORIESCAUTION:• These accessories or attachments arerecommended for use with your Makita toolspecified in this manual.
