91. Loosen the adjusting screw by turning it counter-clockwise.2. With the adjusting screw loosened, slide the adjust-ing screw to the right or left as far as it goes.3. Tighten the adjusting screw firmly at the positionwhere it stops sliding.Laser line is factory adjusted so that it is positioned within1 mm (0.04”) from the side surface of the blade (cuttingposition).NOTE:• When laser line is dim and almost or entirely invisi-ble because of the direct sunlight in the indoor oroutdoor window-by work, relocate the work area toa place not exposed to the direct sunlight.Aligning the laser lineLaser line can be shifted to either the left or right side ofthe blade according to the applications of cutting. Referto explanation titled “Laser beam action” regarding itsshifting method.NOTE:• Use wood facing against the guide fence whenaligning the cutting line with the laser line at theside of guide fence in compound cutting (bevelangle 45 degrees and miter angle right 45degrees).A) When you obtain correct size on the left side of work-piece• Shift the laser line to the left of the blade.B) When you obtain correct size on the right side of work-piece• Shift the laser line to the right of the blade.Align the cutting line on your workpiece with the laserline.ASSEMBLYCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before carrying out any work on the tool.Socket wrench storageThe socket wrench is stored as shown in the figure.When using the socket wrench, pull it out of the wrenchholder. After using the socket wrench, return it to thewrench holder.Installing or removing saw bladeCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before installing or removing the blade.• Use only the Makita socket wrench provided toinstall or remove the blade. Failure to do so mayresult in overtightening or insufficient tightening ofthe hex bolt. This could cause an injury.Lock the handle in the raised position by pushing in thestopper pin.To remove the blade, use the socket wrench to loosenthe hex bolt holding the center cover by turning it coun-terclockwise.
