16OPERATIONNOTICE:• Before use, be sure to release the handle from thelowered position by pulling the stopper pin.• Do not apply excessive pressure on the handlewhen cutting. Too much force may result inoverload of the motor and/or decreased cuttingefficiency. Push down handle with only as muchforce as is necessary for smooth cutting andwithout significant decrease in blade speed.• Gently press down the handle to perform the cut. Ifthe handle is pressed down with force or if lateralforce is applied, the blade will vibrate and leave amark (saw mark) in the workpiece and the precisionof the cut will be impaired.• During a slide cut, gently push the carriage towardthe guide fence without stopping. If the carriagemovement is stopped during the cut, a mark will beleft in the workpiece and the precision of the cut willbe impaired.WARNING:• Make sure the blade is not contacting theworkpiece, etc. before the switch is turned on.Turning the tool on with the blade in contact with theworkpiece may result in kickback and seriouspersonal injury.1. Press cutting (cutting small workpieces)1011409Workpieces up to 91 mm high and 70 mm wide canbe cut in the following manner.Push the carriage toward the guide fence fully andtighten the locking screw clockwise to secure thecarriage. Secure the workpiece correctly with theproper type of vise. Switch on the tool without theblade making any contact and wait until the bladeattains full speed before lowering. Then gentlylower the handle to the fully lowered position to cutthe workpiece. When the cut is completed, switchoff the tool and WAIT UNTIL THE BLADE HASCOME TO A COMPLETE STOP before returningthe blade to its fully elevated position.WARNING:• Firmly tighten the knob clockwise so that thecarriage will not move during operation.Insufficient tightening of the knob may causepossible kickback which may result in seriouspersonal injury.2. Slide (push) cutting (cutting wide workpieces)1011410Loosen the locking screw counterclockwise so thatthe carriage can slide freely. Secure the workpiecewith the proper type of vise. Pull the carriagetoward you fully. Switch on the tool without theblade making any contact and wait until the bladeattains full speed. Press the handle down andPUSH THE CARRIAGE TOWARD THE GUIDEFENCE AND THROUGH THE WORKPIECE.When the cut is completed, switch off the tool andWAIT UNTIL THE BLADE HAS COME TO ACOMPLETE STOP before returning the blade to itsfully elevated position.WARNING:• Whenever performing a slide cut, first pull thecarriage full towards you and press the handleall the way down, then push the carriagetoward the guide fence. Never start the cut withthe carriage not pulled fully toward you. If youperform the slide cut without the carriage pulledfully toward you unexpected kickback may occurand serious personal injury may result.• Never attempt to perform a slide cut by pullingthe carriage towards you. Pulling the carriagetowards you while cutting may cause unexpectedkickback resulting in possible serious personalinjury.1. Locking screw1. Locking screw
