6starting. NEVER use the tool if it runs when yousimply pull the switch trigger without pressing thelock-off lever. Return tool a MAKITA service centerfor proper repairs BEFORE further usage.• NEVER tape down or defeat purpose and functionof lock-off lever.To prevent the switch trigger from being accidentallypulled, a lock-off button is provided.To start the tool, depress the lock-off button and pull theswitch trigger. Thisprevents the tool blades to be damaged.ASSEMBLYCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off and thebattery cartridge is removed before carrying outany work on the tool.Removing or installing mini planer bladesCAUTION:• Tighten the blade installation bolts carefully whenattaching the blades to the tool. A loose installationbolt can be dangerous. Always check to see theyare tightened securely.• Handle the blades very carefully. Use gloves orrags to protect your fingers or hands whenremoving or installing the blades.• Use only the Makita wrench provided to remove orinstall the blades. Failure to do so may result inovertightening or insufficient tightening of theinstallation bolts. This could cause an injury.124 30117401. Remove the existing blade, if the tool has been inuse, carefully clean the drum surfaces and thedrum cover. To remove the blades on the drum,unscrew the three installation bolts with the socketwrench. The drum cover comes off together withthe blades.123456789100025652. To install the blades, loosely attach the adjustingplate to the set plate with the pan head screwsand set the mini planer blade on the gauge baseso that the cutting edge of the blade is perfectlyflush with the inside flank of the gauge plate.3. Set the adjusting plate/set plate on the gaugebase so that the planer blade locating lugs on theset plate rest in the mini planer blade groove, thenpress in the heel of the adjusting plate flush withthe back side of the gauge base and tighten thepan head screws.4. It is important that the blade sits flush with theinside flank of the gauge plate, the planer bladelocating lugs sit in the blade groove and the heelof the adjusting plate is flush with the back side ofthe gauge base.
