14 ENGLISH19. Clean the hedge trimmer and especially thecutter after use, and before putting the trimmerinto storage for extended periods. Lightly oilthe cutter and put on the cover. The cover sup-plied with the unit can be hung on the wall, pro-viding a safe and practical way to store the hedgetrimmer.20. Store the hedge trimmer with the cover on, ina dry room. Keep it out of reach of children.Never store the trimmer outdoors.21. Never point the shear blades to yourself orothers.22. If the blades stop moving due to the stuck offoreign objects between the blades duringoperation, switch off the tool and remove thebattery cartridge, and then remove the foreignobjects using tools such as pliers. Removingthe foreign objects by hand may cause an injuryfor the reason that the blades may move in reac-tion to removing the foreign objects.23. Avoid dangerous environment. Don't use thetool in damp or wet locations or expose it torain. Water entering the tool will increase therisk of electric shock.24. Do not dispose of the battery(ies) in a fire. Thecell may explode. Check with local codes forpossible special disposal instructions.25. Do not open or mutilate the battery(ies).Released electrolyte is corrosive and maycause damage to the eyes or skin. It may betoxic if swallowed.26. Do not charge battery in rain, or in wetlocations.27. Do not short the battery cartridge:(1) Do not touch the terminals with any con-ductive material.(2) Avoid storing battery cartridge in a con-tainer with other metal objects such asnails, coins, etc.(3) Do not expose battery cartridge to wateror rain.A battery short can cause a large currentflow, overheating, possible burns and even abreakdown.6. Do not store the tool and battery cartridge inlocations where the temperature may reach orexceed 50 °C (122 °F).7. Do not incinerate the battery cartridge even ifit is severely damaged or is completely wornout. The battery cartridge can explode in a fire.8. Be careful not to drop or strike battery.9. Do not use a damaged battery.10. The contained lithium-ion batteries are subjectto the Dangerous Goods Legislation require-ments.For commercial transports e.g. by third parties,forwarding agents, special requirement on pack-aging and labeling must be observed.For preparation of the item being shipped, consult-ing an expert for hazardous material is required.Please also observe possibly more detailednational regulations.Tape or mask off open contacts and pack up thebattery in such a manner that it cannot movearound in the packaging.11. When disposing the battery cartridge, removeit from the tool and dispose of it in a safeplace. Follow your local regulations relating todisposal of battery.12. Use the batteries only with the productsspecified by Makita. Installing the batteries tonon-compliant products may result in a fire, exces-sive heat, explosion, or leak of electrolyte.13. If the tool is not used for a long period of time,the battery must be removed from the tool.SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.CAUTION: Only use genuine Makita batteries.Use of non-genuine Makita batteries, or batteries thathave been altered, may result in the battery burstingcausing fires, personal injury and damage. Always stop tool operation andcharge the battery cartridge when you noticeless tool power.2. Never recharge a fully charged battery car-tridge. Overcharging shortens the batteryservice life.3. Charge the battery cartridge with room tem-perature at 10 °C - 40 °C (50 °F - 104 °F). Leta hot battery cartridge cool down beforecharging it. |
