12 ENGLISH2. Before use always check that the equipmentis safe for operation. Check the security of thecutting tool and the guard and the switch trig-ger/lever for easy and proper action. Check forclean and dry handles and test the function ofthe start/stop.3. Check damaged parts before further use ofthe equipment. A guard or other part that isdamaged should be carefully checked to deter-mine that it will operate properly and performits intended function. Check for alignment ofmoving parts, binding of moving parts, break-age of parts, mounting, and any other condi-tion that may affect its operation. A guard orother part that is damaged should be properlyrepaired or replaced by our authorized ser-vice center unless indicated elsewhere in thismanual.4. Switch on the motor only when the hands andfeet are away from the cutting tool.5. Before starting make sure that the cutting toolhas no contact with any objects.Method of operation1. Only use the equipment in good light andvisibility. During the winter season bewareof slippery or wet areas, ice and snow (riskof slipping). Always ensure a safe footing onslopes and be sure to walk and never run.2. Take care against injury to feet and hands fromthe cutting tool.3. Never stand on a ladder and run theequipment.4. Never climb up into trees to perform cuttingoperation with the equipment.5. Never work on unstable surfaces.6. Remove sand, stones, nails etc. found withinthe working range. Foreign particles may dam-age the cutting tool and can cause dangerouskick-backs.7. Should the cutting tool hit stones or other hardobjects, immediately switch off the motor andinspect the cutting tool.8. Inspect the cutting tool at short regular inter-vals for damage (detection of hairline cracksby means of tapping-noise test).9. Before commencing cutting, the cutting toolmust have reached full working speed.10. The cutting tool has to be equipped with the appro-priate guard. Never run the equipment with dam-aged guards or without guards in place!11. All protective installations and guards sup-plied with the equipment must be used duringoperation.12. Always remove the battery cartridge from theequipment:— whenever leaving the equipmentunattended;— before clearing a blockage;— before checking, cleaning or working onthe equipment;— after striking a foreign object;— whenever the equipment starts vibratingabnormally.13. Always ensure that the ventilation openingsare kept clear of debris.14. Cutting means continues to run after the motoris switched off.Cutting ToolsEmploy only the correct cutting tool for the jobin hand.Maintenance instructions1. The condition of the equipment, in particular ofthe cutting tool of the protective devices mustbe checked before commencing work.2. Turn off the motor and remove the batterycartridge before carrying out maintenance,replacing cutting tools or cleaning the equip-ment or cutting tool.3. When not in use, store the equipment indoors indry and high or locked-up place - out of the reach ofchildren. Keep all parts of the body away from the cutterblade. Do not remove cut material or hold materialto be cut when blades are moving. Make sure theswitch is off when clearing jammed material. Amoment of inattention while operating the hedge trim-mer may result in serious personal injury.2. Carry the hedge trimmer by the handle with thecutter blade stopped. When transporting or storingthe hedge trimmer always fit the cutting devicecover. Proper handling of the hedge trimmer will reducepossible personal injury from the cutter blades.3. Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfacesonly, because the cutter blade may contact hiddenwiring. Cutter blades contacting a "live" wire may makeexposed metal parts of the power tool "live" and couldgive the operator an electric shock.4. Do not use the hedge trimmer in the rain or inwet or very damp conditions. The electric motoris not waterproof.5. First-time users should have an experiencedhedge trimmer user show them how to use thetrimmer.6. The hedge trimmer must not be used bychildren or young persons under 18 years ofage. Young persons over 16 years of age may beexempted from this restriction if they are undergo-ing training under the supervision of an expert.7. Use the hedge trimmer only if you are in goodphysical condition. If you are tired, your attentionwill be reduced. Be especially careful at the end ofa working day. Perform all work calmly and care-fully. The user is responsible for all damages tothird parties. |
