6CAUTION:• Before installing the battery cartridge into the tool,always check to see that the switch trigger actuatesproperly and returns to the "OFF" position whenreleased.• When not operating the tool, depress the lock-offbutton from A side to lock the switch trigger in theOFF position.To prevent the switch trigger from accidentally pulled, thelock-off button is provided.To start the tool, depress the lock-off button from B sideand pull the switch trigger.Tool speed is increased by increasing pressure on theswitch trigger. Release the switch trigger to stop. Afteruse, always press in the lock-off button from A side.Electric brakeThis tool is equipped with an electric brake. If the toolconsistently fails to quickly stop after switch triggerrelease, have tool serviced at a Makita service center.ASSEMBLYCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off and thebattery cartridge is removed before carrying outany work on the tool.Installing or removing saw blade123012314CAUTION:• Always clean out all chips or foreign matteradhering to the blade and/or blade holder. Failureto do so may cause insufficient tightening of theblade, resulting in a serious personal injury.• Do not touch the blade or the workpieceimmediately after operation; they may be extremelyhot and could burn your skin.• Always secure the blade firmly. Insufficienttightening of the blade may cause blade breakageor serious personal injury.• Use only B type blades. Using blades other than Btype blades causes insufficient tightening of theblade, resulting in a serious personal injury.123012315To install the blade, loosen the bolt counterclockwise onthe blade holder with the hex wrench.With the blade teeth facing forward, insert the blade intothe blade holder as far as it will go. Make sure that theback edge of the blade fits into the roller. Then tighten thebolt clockwise to secure the blade.To remove the blade, follow the installation procedure inreverse.NOTE:• Occasionally lubricate the roller.Hex wrench storage12012316When not in use, store the hex wrench as shown in thefigure to keep it from being lost.First, insert the hex wrench into the hole. Then push itinto the hook until it locked.Dust cover1012318CAUTION:• Always wear safety goggles even when operatingthe tool with the dust cover lowered.Lower the dust cover to prevent chips from flying.However, when making bevel cuts, raise it all the way.1.
