8B) Plunge cutting012325You need not bore a starting hole or make a lead-incut if you carefully do as follows.(1) Tilt the tool up on the front edge of the basewith the blade point positioned just above theworkpiece surface.(2) Apply pressure to the tool so that the frontedge of the base will not move when youswitch on the tool and gently lower the backend of the tool slowly.(3) As the blade pierces the workpiece, slowlylower the base of the tool down onto theworkpiece surface.(4) Complete the cut in the normal manner.Finishing edges012326To trim edges or make dimensional adjustments, run theblade lightly along the cut edges.Metal cuttingAlways use a suitable coolant (cutting oil) when cuttingmetal. Failure to do so will cause significant blade wear. The underside of the workpiece can be greased insteadof using a coolant.Dust extraction12012327Clean cutting operations can be performed byconnecting this tool to a Makita vacuum cleaner. Insertthe hose of the vacuum cleaner into the hole at the rearof the tool.
