Battery cartridgeTo remove the battery cartridge, slide it from the toolwhile sliding the button on the front of the cartridge.To install the battery cartridge, align the tongue on thebattery cartridge with the groove in the housing and slipit into place. Insert it all the way until it locks in placewith a little click. If you can see the red indicator on theupper side of the button, it is not locked completely.CAUTION: Always install the battery cartridgefully until the red indicator cannot be seen. If not,it may accidentally fall out of the tool, causing injury toyou or someone around you.CAUTION: Do not install the battery cartridgeforcibly. If the cartridge does not slide in easily, it isnot being inserted correctly.Tool / battery protection systemThe tool is equipped with a tool/battery protection sys-tem. This system automatically cuts off power to themotor to extend tool and battery life. The tool will auto-matically stop during operation if the tool or battery isplaced under one of the following conditions:Overload protectionWhen the battery is operated in a manner that causesit to draw an abnormally high current, the tool automat-ically stops without any indication. In this situation, turnthe tool off and stop the application that caused the toolto become overloaded. Then turn the tool on to restart.Overheat protectionWhen the battery is overheated, the tool stops automat-ically. In this situation, let the battery cool before turningthe tool on again.Overdischarge protectionWhen the battery capacity is not enough, the tool stopsautomatically. In this case, remove the battery from thetool and charge the battery.NOTE: Overload protection will work only with batter-ies with star marking.1► 1. Star markingIndicating the remaining batterycapacity1► 1. Battery indicatorWhen you pull the switch trigger, the LED display showsthe remaining battery capacity. The remaining batterycapacity is shown as the following table.Battery indicator status RemainingbatterycapacityOn Off Blinking50% to 100%20% to 50%0% to 20%Charge thebatteryNOTE: When the LED display goes off, the tool is turnedoff to save the battery power. To check the remainingbattery capacity, slightly pull the switch trigger.NOTE: The LED display goes off approximately oneminute after releasing the switch trigger.NOTE: When the LED display lights up and the toolstops even with a recharged battery cartridge, cool downthe tool fully. If the status will not change, stop using andhave the tool repaired by a Makita local service center.NOTE: When the tool is overheated, the light blinks for oneminute as shown in the table below, and then the LED displaygoes off. In this case, cool down the tool before operating again. |
