2-10Emergency Engine Stop SwitchThe emergency engine stop switch attaches to the driverof the boat and shuts down the engine if the driver of theboat is accidentally forced away from the helm. The switch consists of a helm-mounted switch plungerand a switch clip/lanyard clip, which is connectedbetween the stop clip and the operator. Should theoperator move away from the controls, the clip pulls free, releasing the plunger and stopping the engine. If the engine must be shut down quickly, a pull on thecord to release the clip from the switch will stop theengine. To reset the switch after activation, reinstall the switch clip.Notice: If lanyard switch is damaged or lost you can purchase a newswitch through your local marina or Malibu dealer.Motorbox CoverThe upholstered motorbox reduces engine noise andprovides protection for the passengers on board. To open, stand on the port side of the box near the observer seat, grasp the handle near the floor and pull open. The motorbox is equipped with either one or two gas-filled shockabsorbers (depending on model) to provide support for thecompartment when opened.Running the engine with the motor box open exposesrotating machinery which can cause injuryto occupants of the boat.Figure 2-12.
