2-4 Installing and Configuring Windows 2000Installing Microsoft WindowsÆ 2000 OperatingSystemUse the following procedure to set up and perform a clean Windows 2000Operating System installation on your server.1. Power on your system.2. The Power On Self-Test (POST) execution results are displayed on thescreen.3. When the "NEC" logo appears, press Esc.4. Wait for the following message to appear on the bottom left-hand side of thescreen.Press F2 to enter SETUP5. Press F2 to enter SETUP. In BIOS SETUP perform the following:! Select Advanced! Select Installed O/S! Set to PnP O/S! Select Exit (Save Changes & Exit) or (Exit Saving Changes).! Select Yes to reboot the system.6. System reboots.Insert the Windows Æ 2000 CD into the CD-ROM drive and press Ctrl + Alt + Delete toboot your system.If a bootable operating system has been previously installed on the hard diskthe message "Press any key to boot from CD"is displayed at the top of thescreen. Press any key. If no bootable operating system exists on the harddisk, this step is not necessary.7. The "Windows 2000 setup screen appears."8. Windows 2000 continues in its regular manner according to the subsequentmessages that appear.Note: Please consult the Microsoft Windows 2000Installation Guide for more information.9. After the installation of Windows 2000 has been completed, logon to thesystem using the administrator account or other account, which is a memberof the administrators group.10. Execute "\W2K\Update.exe" from the "NEC Update Module" Diskette.11. The installation is completed.
