Installing Internal Optional DevicesExpress5800/E120d-M User's Guide 45Chapter 2 Preparations1.3 Overview of Installation and RemovalInstall/remove components by using the following procedure.Installing/removing internal components except for hard disk drives and power supply unit should be done afterdismounting the server module from the module enclosure.CAUTIONBe sure to observe the following precautions to use the server safely. Failure toobserve the precautions may cause burns, injury, and property damage. Fordetails, refer to Safety precautions in Precautions for Use. Do not drop the server Do not leave the server pulled out. Do not install the device with cover removed. Beware of high temperatures Do not get your fingers caught when installing components1. If the server is mounted on a rack, use the UID switch to identify the target server.Refer to Chapter 2 (1.4 Identifying Servers (UID Switch)).2. If the server module is ON, turn it off.Refer to Chapter 3 (1. Turning on the Server).3. Remove the server module from the server enclosure, and put it on a flat rigid deskRefer to Chapter 2 (1.5 Removing Server Module) for details.– If you remove the server module from module enclosure, wait at least 30 seconds before insert itagain into enclosure.– If you are going to install hard disk drive only, you need not to remove the server module. Go toStep 6.4. Depending on the components to be installed or removed, follow the procedure in order.Refer to Chapter 2 (1.5 Removing Server Module) to (1.11 Battery for RAID Controller).5. Install the server module in module enclosure. Refer to Chapter 2 (2.1 Installation).6. Install hard disk drives.Refer to Chapter 2 (1.12 Hard Disk Drive).7. Install power supply unitsRefer to Chapter 2 (1.13 Power Supply Unit).This is the end of the installation or removal procedures for internal optional devices.Continue the setup with reference to Chapter 2 (2.2 Connection).
