Replacing the Hard Drive in the NVM-20008Write the Hardware Settings for the New Drive to CMOSYou must write the settings for the new drive to CMOS. Theprocedure you use depends on two things: the type of hard drive youjust installed and the type of motherboard already installed in yourNVM.If you installed a 17569-65 hard drive for the J or K series, you will beable to use auto detect. Go to: 17569-65 - J or K Series: DetermineProper Procedure for Writing to CMOS (below). If you installed a 17569-24 hard drive for E, G, or H series, you mustmanually enter the parameters for the hard drive into CMOS. Youcannot use auto detect. This is because the 17569-24 is a 24 hour driveregardless of the actual physical size of the drive. Go to: 17569-24 -E,G, or H Series: Determine Proper Procedure for Writing toCMOS (see page 10).17569-65 - J or K Series: Determine Proper Procedure forWriting to CMOSTo determine the proper procedure to use:1. Turn on system power.2. Carefully watch the screen on your monitor.n If you see 486BL CPU in the upper right-hand corner of thescreen, immediately press the Escape key. Continue usingProcedure A.n If you see the ENERGY/Star logo in the upper right-handcorner of the screen, immediately press the Delete key.Continue using Procedure B.Note: If you do not press the Escape or Delete key quickly enough, the NVM will try to boot up. You will then see an errormessage (i.e., Missing Operating System or Boot Failure). Ifthis occurs:n Turn system power off.n Repeat the above two steps.
