Minimum and maximum vent lengths, for both horizontal and vertical installations, and air terminal locations for either system are set out in this manual and must be adhered to. For SimpsonDura-Vent, Selkirk Direct Temp, American Metal Amerivent and Metal-Fab follow the installation procedureprovided with the venting components.A starter adaptor must be used with the following vent systems and may be purchased from thecorresponding supplier:For Simpson Dura-Vent, Selkirk Direct Temp, American Metal Amerivent and Metal-Fab follow the installationprocedure found on the website for your venting supplier. For vent systems that provide seals on the inner exhaust flue, only the outer air intake joints must be sealed using ared high temperature silicone (RTV). This same sealant may be used on both the inner exhaust and outer intake ventpipe joints of all other approved vent systems except for the exhaust vent pipe connection to the appliance flue collarwhich must be sealed using the black high temperature sealant Mill Pac.When using Wolf Steel venting components, use only approved Wolf Steel rigid / flexible components with the followingtermination kits: wall terminal kit GD422-1, GD422R-1, or 1/12 to 7/12 pitch roof terminal kit GD410, 8/12 to 12/12 roofterminal kit GD411, flat roof terminal kit GD412 or periscope kit GD401 (for wall penetration below grade). With flexibleventing, in conjunction with the various terminations, use either the 5 foot (1.5m) vent kit GD420 or the 10 foot (3.1m)vent kit GD430.For optimum flame appearance and appliance performance, keep the vent length and number of elbows to aminimum. The air terminal must remain unobstructed at all times. Examine the air terminal at least once a year to verifythat it is unobstructed and undamaged.Rigid and flexible venting systems must not be combined. Different venting manufacturer components mustnot be combined. These vent kits allow for either horizontal or vertical venting of the appliance. The maximum allowable horizontalrun is 20 feet (6.1m). The maximum allowable vertical vent length is 40 feet (12.2m). The maximum number of ventconnections is two horizontally or three vertically (excluding the appliance and the air terminal connections) whenusing flexible venting.Horizontal runs may have a 0” (0mm) rise per foot/meter however for optimum performance it is recommendedthat all horizontal runs have a minimum 1/4” (6.4mm) rise per foot/meter using flexible venting. For safe and properoperation of the appliance, follow the venting instructions exactly.A terminal shall not terminate directly above a sidewalk or paved driveway which is located between two single familydwellings and serves both dwellings. Local codes or regulations may require different clearances.Do not allow the inside liner to bunch up on horizontal or vertical runs and elbows. Keep it pulled tight. A 1¼”(31.8mm) air gap all around between the inner liner and outer liner is required for safe operation.PART 5”/8” SUPPLIER WEBSITEDuravent W175-0170 Wolf Steel www.duravent.comAmerivent 5DSC-N2 American Metal www.americanmetalproducts.comDirect Temp 5DT-AA Selkirk www.selkirkcorp.comSuperSeal 5DDA Metal-Fab www.mtlfab.com8.3A
