Furthermore, damage or fire mayoccur if replacement parts are unsuitable.• Modification—Do not modify any part of the chassis from its originalcondition. Unsuitable modifications may result in safety hazards.Chassis Cooling ConsiderationsThe PXI-1045 is designed to operate on a bench or in an instrument rack.Determine how you want to use the PXI-1045 and follow the appropriateinstallation instructions.Providing Adequate ClearanceApertures in the top and along both sides of the chassis facilitate powersupply and module cooling. Air enters through filters and fan inlets in thelower rear of the chassis and exits through the upper sections on both sidesand through the top, as shown in Figure 2-1. Place the PXI-1045 on a benchtop or in an instrument rack so that the fans (air inlets) and the air outletapertures along both sides and the top of the chassis have adequateventilation. Keep other equipment a minimum of 76.2 mm (3 in.) awayfrom the air inlets on the rear of the chassis. When rack mounting the PXI-1045, provide at least 44.5 mm (1.75 in.)clearance above and on the sides of the unit for adequate venting.High-power applications may require additional clearance.
