-8-It is important to wipe off all water deposits inside the distiller chassis, onthe base of the chassis and also all water deposits on the outside bottomof the boiling chamber between each distillation cycle. If this is not done, corrosion of the distiller or electrical hazard may occur or it may cause thedistiller to shut off early, before producing a full gallon of water.Heavy scale deposits should be removed from the boiling chamber wheneverthey exceed 1⁄16 of an inch (.16 cm). Add enough plain white distilled vinegar tothe boiling chamber so that the scale deposits are covered. Allow the vinegar tostand for at least twenty minutes and then discard. Rinse the boiling chamber.Repeat this process if necessary. Do not heat vinegar in boiling chamber. Adescaler or coffeemaker or kettle cleaner may also be used to clean the boilingchamber.WATER BOTTLETo Sanitize Water Bottle: It is recommended that this be done whenever anundesirable taste is detected in your distilled water. See page 4 under PrepareYour Distiller for instructions on sanitizing the water bottle.OUTSIDE SURFACESUse a common household glass or appliance cleaner or a damp soft cloth to cleanthe distiller’s outside surfaces. Do not use abrasive or solvent based cleaners. Donot spray cleaning products directly onto the distiller. The distiller’s cooling system vents (see diagram on page 4) should be vacuumedoccasionally or cleaned with a soft brush to remove dust and debris. Failure to doso may cause the distiller to overheat, shut off early, or emit a foul odor.CARBON FILTERYour distiller comes with a disposable filter cup. The filter cup should be replacedevery two months or whenever an undesirable taste is detected in the distilledwater. See page 4.NOTE: Underwriters Laboratories Inc., has not investigated thephysiological effect of the use of the carbon filter, beneficial or otherwise.Cleaning the Surfaces- Allow the distiller to cool down fully and disconnect the appliance from themain electrical outlet before cleaning.- Do not immerse the distiller or base in water.- Use a soft dampened cloth to wipe the outside of the distiller and dry with asoft, dry cloth.- DO NOT use metal polish or harsh scouring agents.- Ensure that all connectors and sockets are kept dry.
