Observe thefollowing precautions when handlingthe battery for use in this product:• Before replacing the battery, turn theproduct off. If you are using theCharging AC Adapter/AC adapter, besure it is unplugged.• Use only a Rechargeable Li-ionBattery EN-EL5 (supplied). Charge thebattery by inserting it into thecamera and connecting theCharging AC Adapter EH-69P(supplied).• When inserting the battery, do notattempt to insert it upside down orbackwards.• Do not short or disassemble thebattery or attempt to remove orbreak the battery insulation or casing.• Do not expose the battery to flameor to excessive heat.• Do not immerse in or expose towater.• Replace the terminal cover whentransporting the battery. Do nottransport or store with metal objectssuch as necklaces or hairpins.• The battery is prone to leakage whenfully discharged. To avoid damage tothe product, be sure to remove thebattery when no charge remains.• Discontinue use immediately shouldyou notice any change in the battery,such as discoloration or deformation.• If liquid from the damaged batterycomes in contact with clothing orskin, rinse immediately with plenty ofwater.Observe the following precautionswhen handling the Charging ACAdapter• Keep dry. Failure to observe thisprecaution could result in fire orelectric shock.• Dust on or near the metal parts ofthe plug should be removed with adry cloth. Continued use could resultin fire.• Do not handle the plug or go nearthe Charging AC Adapter duringlightning storms. Failure to observethis precaution could result inelectric shock.• Do not damage, modify, forcibly tugor bend the USB cable, place it underheavy objects, or expose it to heat orflames. Should the insulation bedamaged and the wires becomeexposed, take it to a Nikon-authorized service representative forinspection. Failure to observe theseprecautions could result in fire orelectric shock.• Do not handle the plug or ChargingAC Adapter with wet hands. Failureto observe this precaution couldresult in electric shock.• Do not use with travel converters oradapters designed to convert fromone voltage to another or with DC-to-AC inverters.
