Insert four AA (LR6)batteries as shown inside thecover. Close the cover and, press-ing the label “Push” to keep thecover firmly closed, return thelatch to the locked position.2 Insert the memory cardBefore inserting or removing thememory card, turn the camera off.Open the card-slot cover andslide the memory card in as shownabove (1). Fold the eject buttonover (2) before closing the card-slot cover.3 Select A-RECTurn the mode dial to A-REC.Check that the control panel ontop of the camera is on and thatthe battery indicator is not flash-ing.5 Adjust viewfinder diopterThe diopter adjustment dial nextto the viewfinder can be used toadjust the finder to suit individualdifferences in vision.13 Check the resultsThe picture just taken will bedisplayed briefly in the LCD moni-tor while the camera transfers itto memory. Press the ( )button to freeze the display fortwenty seconds. If you are notsatisfied with the results, press( ) to delete the photo be-fore returning to shooting mode.11 Check focus and flashGently depress the shutter-releasebutton halfway and check theautofocus and flash indicators nextto the viewfinder. The camera isready to take a picture when theautofocus lamp (green) glowssteadily and the flash lamp (red) isnot blinking.12 Take a pictureTo take a picture, fully depress theshutter-release button.9 Choose an image sizeTo select an image size, turn thecommand dial while pressing thebutton.Full (2048 × 1536 pixels)XGA 1024 × 768 pixelsVGA 640 × 480 pixels3 : 2 2048 × 1360 pixels (sameproportions as 35 mm film)10 Compose a photographUse the zoom buttons to frame your subject in the viewfinder or LCDmonitor. The button zooms the camera out (A), reducing magnificationand increasing the field of view. The button zooms the camera in (B). Ifthe LCD monitor is on or the camera is connected to a television set, youcan hold the button down for two seconds at maximum zoom to enterdigital zoom mode (C), where you can zoom in a further × 4.0.6ME42500 En8 Adjust image qualityTogether with image size, imagequality determines the number ofimages that can be stored on thememory card.
