Notethat the flash may be unable to light the entire subject at distances of less than50 cm (1 ft. 8 in.).1 Press the rotary multi selector p (macromode).The macro mode menu is displayed.2 Use the rotary multi selector to choose ONand press the k button.The macro mode icon (F) is displayed.If a setting is not applied by pressing the k buttonwithin a few seconds, the selection will be canceled.3 Rotate the zoom control to the zoom positionat which F and the zoom indicator glowgreen.The closest distance at which the camera can focus variesdepending on the zoom position.When the zoom is at a position where F and the zoom indicator glow green (to the leftof G), the camera can focus on subjects as close as 11 cm (4.4 in.) from the lens. At themaximum wide-angle position, the camera can focus on subjects as close as 4 cm (1.6 in.)from the lens.M acro modeC AutofocusWhen using A (auto) mode, if Autofocus mode (A 60) is set to Full-time AF, the camera focusescontinuously until the shutter-release button is pressed halfway to lock the focus. Therefore, thesound of lens drive movement can be heard.When using other shooting modes, Full-time AF is turned on automatically when macro mode isturned on.C The Macro Mode SettingA (auto) mode and continuous shooting mode share the same macro mode setting. When usingA (auto) mode or continuous shooting mode, the macro mode setting is saved in the camera’smemory even if the camera is turned off.
