As a rule of thumb, positive compensationmay be needed when the main subject is darker than the background,negative values when the main subject is brighter than the background.Center-weighted or spot metering is recommended when using exposurecompensation.Pressing the button, rotate the main com-mand dial and confirm exposure compensa tionin the control panel or the electronic analogexposure display. Exposure compensa tion canbe set to values between –5 EV (underexposure)and +5 EV (overex posure) in increments of 1/3 or½ EV.The current value for exposure com pensa tionis displayed in the control panel and viewfinderwhen the button is pressed.–0.3 EV+2.0 EVNormal exposure can be restored by setting ex posure compensation to±0.
