182 Technical Notes❚❚ HDMI OptionsThe HDMI option in the setup menu (0 110) controls outputresolution and other advanced HDMI options, and can also beused to enable the camera for remote control from devices thatsupport HDMI-CEC (High-Definition Multimedia Interface–Consumer Electronics Control, a standard that allows HDMIdevices to be used to control peripherals to which they areconnected).Output ResolutionChoose the format for images output tothe HDMI device. If Auto is selected, thecamera will automatically select theappropriate format.Device ControlIf On is selected for HDMI > Device control when the camera isconnected to a television that supports HDMI-CEC and both thecamera and television are on, the television remote can be usedin place of the camera multi selector and J button during full-frame playback and slide shows. If Off is selected, the televisionremote can not be used to control the camera.
