118e: Programmed AutoIn this mode, the camera automatically adjusts shutter speedand aperture according to a built-in program to ensure optimalexposure in most situations.A Flexible ProgramIn exposure mode e, differentcombinations of shutter speed andaperture can be selected by rotating themain command dial while the exposuremeters are on (“flexible program”). Rotatethe dial to the right for large apertures (lowf-numbers) that blur background details orfast shutter speeds that “freeze” motion.Rotate the dial to the left for smallapertures (high f-numbers) that increasedepth of field or slow shutter speeds thatblur motion. All combinations producethe same exposure. While flexibleprogram is in effect, an asterisk (“U”)appears in the control panel.
