56TroubleshootingTroubleshootingIf the scanner fails to function as expected, check the problems described below before con-sulting the original retailer or Nikon service representative. For more information on solvingthe problems listed here, refer to the page numbers in the rightmost column.Problem Possible causeScanner will notturn on (status LEDdoes not light)• Scanner is offTurn the scanner on• Power cable is not properly connectedReturn the power switch to the off position and reconnect the powercable.• Outlet is not receiving powerPlug another device into the outlet to determine whether the outlet isworking properly.2421—Status LED flickers(scanner not con-nected to computer,or computer off)• Scanner hardware malfunctionTurn the scanner off and disconnect it from the computer. Wait fiveseconds and turn the scanner on again. If the problem persists, con-tact a Nikon service representative.—Status LED flickers(scanner connectedto computer)• Scanner hardware malfunction or communications errorTurn the scanner and computer off and disconnect the scanner. Waitfive seconds and turn the scanner on again. If the status LED flickerswhen the scanner is turned on, a scanner hardware malfunction hasoccurred. Contact the original retailer or a Nikon service representa-tive. If the status LED blinks and then glows steadily, turn the scanneroff and reconnect it to the computer. After waiting five seconds, turnthe scanner on and restart the computer. If the status LED flickerswhen the computer is restarted, try the following:• Disconnect all other devices using the same interface as the scanner• Reinstall Nikon scan• Update the device drivers for the USB interface (Windows only)• Update the scanner device drivers (Windows only)22, 245, 2210–1962–64—66–67Poor quality scans• Film is not properly insertedEject and reinsert film.• Scanner or film moved during scanningDo not use the scanner in locations subject to shock or vibration.
