23En4 Grease the O-ring.If the O-ring is not properly greased, it maycrack or peel, causing leaks. Grease the ringif the surface appears dry. First, squeezeabout a centimeter (half an inch) of silicongrease into a plastic bag and use your fingersto spread the grease throughout the bag(q). Next, insert the O-ring and massagethe bag to coat the ring (w). Use only greasedesignated for use with the WP-N3. Do notapply grease using cloth or paper, as thesemay leave fibers on the O-ring. Note that ap-plying too much grease may cause foreignobjects to adhere more readily to the ring,preventing the case from sealing properly.5 Replace the O-ring.Making sure the O-ring and guide are freeof foreign objects, place the O-ring so thatit runs evenly at the same level all the wayround the O-ring guide, without unduestretching or twisting and without protrud-ing from the guide.D O-RingsThe O-ring requires periodic replacement. Replace the O-ring immediately if it is damaged,cracked, warped, or has lost its elasticity. O-rings should be replaced at least once a year. Useonly silicon grease designated for use in this product; replacement O-rings and silicon greasecan be purchased from a Nikon camera retailer or Nikon-authorized service agent.
