Wheels, Drive System117Service Manual – Scrubtec R 253 - RA40Wheels, Drive SystemFunctional DescriptionMachine movement is provided by the gearmotor unit(M3)The gearmotor unit (M3) consists of an electrical mo-tor, a reduction unit with differential, an electromag-netic brake (BRK) (built in the electrical motor) anddriving wheels It is fastened to the machine frameThe electromagnetic brake keeps the machine brakedwhen the machine is off or whenever it is stoppedThe electromagnetic brake is equipped with an un-locking lever, to easily move the machine manuallyAfter moving the machine manually, engage the elec-tromagnetic brake againWarning! Do not use the machine when the electromagnetic brake is disengaged. If thelever is not repositioned after pushing/towing the machine, the electromagneticbrake is disengaged. For safety reasons, it is recommended to disengage theelectromagnetic brake only for the time necessary to manually move the machine. The operator regulates the transfer speed, the work-ing speed and reverse gear by means of the drivepedal, which is directly connected to the drive pedalpotentiometer (RV1) The reverse gear is selected bypressing the right lever on the steering wheel:The function electronic board (EB1) checks that thedrive pedal is not pressed when the machine is start-ed; otherwise, an alarm is generated (see “FunctionElectronic Board Alarm Codes” paragraph, in “Con-trol System” chapter) and the drive system is inhib-itedWhen the drive pedal returns to the rest position, thealarm is automatically deactivated (without having toturn the machine off and on again)When the drive pedal is pressed, the function elec-tronic board (EB1) powers the electromagnetic braketo release the wheel, then activates the gearmotor(M3) with a proportional voltage on the basis of thepedal position The acceleration ramps and maximumspeed can be set via the corresponding parameters(see “Displaying and Modifying User Modifiable Pa-rameters” paragraph, in “Control System” chapter)An anti-skid system, built in the function electronicboard, reduces the speed to a safe speed when turningand when the machine tilts laterally in order to avoidsudden skidding, thus increasing machine stability inall conditionsThe system activation is shown by the icon onthe displayThe automatic anti-skid system constantly detectslateral acceleration using an accelerometer installedin function electronic board (EB1) If the lateral accel-erometer detects a speed higher than the preset value(set using the AMAX parameter, see “Displaying andModifying User Modifiable Parameters” paragraph,in “Control System” chapter) the system reduces thespeed so the lateral acceleration remains below thislimitThe driver’s seat microswitch is located inside thedriver’s seat and the machine drive system is only en-abled if the operator is seated in the driver’s seathttps://harrissupplyind.com - To Order Parts Call 608-268-8080
