Check the side brooms for proper height and tilting,proceeding as follows:– Drive the machine on a level ground.– While keeping the machine stationary, fully lower theside brooms and rotate them for a few seconds.– Stop and lift the side brooms, then move themachine.– Check that the size and orientation of the prints leftby the side brooms are as follows:– The right side broom must touch the ground along acircle arc ranging from “11 o'clock” position to “4o'clock” position (1, Fig. AB).– The left side broom must touch the ground along acircle arc ranging from “8 o'clock” position to “1o'clock” position (2, Fig. AB).Adjust the broom height when the prints are out ofspecification, according to the following procedure.2. Engage the parking brake with the lever (7, Fig. E).3. Turn the ignition key (17, Fig. D) counterclockwise, to theend of stroke, then remove it.Broom height adjustment4. On both sides of the machine, operate on the tensioningself-locking nut (1, Fig. AA) of the spring (2) and considerthe following:– To lower the broom, the nut (1) must be unscrewed;– To lift the broom, the nut (1) must be screwed.5. Perform step 1 again.Broom forward tilting angle (3, Fig. AA) adjustment6. On both sides of the machine, loosen the screws (5 and6, Fig. AA), then adjust the forward tilting angle (3).When the adjustment is completed, tighten the screws(5) and (6).7. Perform step 1 again.Broom side tilting angle (4, Fig. AA) adjustment8. On both sides of the machine, loosen the screws (7 and8, Fig. AA), then adjust the side tilting angle (4). Whenthe adjustment is completed, tighten the screws (7) and(8).9. Perform step 1 again.Broom side position adjustment10. The purpose of this adjustment is to improve the sideposition of the brooms as to the suction inlet (10, Fig. G).11. To perform the adjustment, loosen the nuts (9, Fig. AA)and operate on the screw (10), thus changing the sideposition of the brooms.SIDE BROOM REPLACEMENT1. Lift the brooms and engage the parking brake (7, Fig. E).2. Turn off the engine, by turning the ignition key (17, Fig.D) counterclockwise, to the end of stroke, then removeit.3. Remove the centre screw (1, Fig. AC), then remove thebroom (2) to be replaced. Remove the key.4. Remove the screws (3, Fig. AC) and the flange (4) fromthe removed broom.5. Install the flange (4, Fig. AC) and secure it with thescrews (3) on the new broom.6. Install the new broom (2, Fig. AC) with the key, thentighten the centre screw (1).7. Adjust the height of the new broom according to theprocedure shown in the relevant paragraph.PARKING BRAKE CHECK1. Engage the parking brake lever (7, Fig. E) and check forproper operation. Check also that the brake operate inthe same way on both the front wheels.If necessary, adjust the parking brake according to theinstructions in the Service Manual.NOTEBrooms of various hardness are available. Thisprocedure is applicable to all types of brooms.NOTEWhen the side brooms are too worn out theadjustment is not possible; replace the broomsaccording to the instructions in the relevantparagraph.NOTEBrooms of various hardness are available.
