64Service Manual – SC900 34 - Scrub System, CylindricalBrush Motor Brushes1 Drain the recovery tank and disconnect the main battery connector2 Remove the Scrub Skirt described on page 633 Remove the Scrub Brush Motor described on page 63Remove both scrub brushes4 Important: Using a marker or paint pen, mark thealignment (A) of the top and bottom end caps withrespect to the motor housing (D)5 Remove the two screws (B) that secure the top cap (C),through the motor housing (D), and down to the bottomcap The screws are very long6 Carefully pry up the top cap (C) away from the motorhousing (D) Note the following:• The rotor’s bearing is a light press into the top capIt will come free fairly easily, but care must betaken to not skew the cap in the process• A very light tap on the side of the cap with a plasticdeadblow hammer should be enough to loosen thecap enough to begin prying with a small screwdriver• Taking care not to damage the aluminum cap, workthe small screw driver around the cap enough to beable to get two medium sized screw drivers in 180°apart, and then pry up on both sides evenly7 Slowly and gently, lift the top cap up until the 4brushes clear the commutator and rotor bearing8 Remove the nut from the terminal screw (E),and lift the brush wire off the screw9 Slide the brush toward the center to remove thebrush and coil springABCDDD
