27Riding Forward/Backward1. With your instructor available to assist you, slowly lean forward and feel the PTR move forward. Then stop leaning forwardand feel it slow down and stop. Do this a few times.WARNINGYour first movements should be slow and gentle, and your body should be relaxed. Rocking back and forth may cause a lossof traction and could result in a fall.2. Look behind you and then slowly lean back and feel the PTR move backward. Then stop leaning back and feel it slow downand stop. Do this a few times until it feels comfortable.NOTICEYou should not ride backward except to maneuver a few feet. Instead, turn in place, then ride forward.
