Text entryYou can use two methods forentering text and numbers:• Standard mode is the only way toenter text into the contacts list,and to rename caller groups.• T9 predictive input is a quick andeasy method for writingmessages, creating a calendarnote.■ Standard modeText (Abc)• Press a key once to insert the firstletter on the key, twice for thesecond letter, etc. If you pausebriefly, the last letter in thedisplay is accepted and yourphone awaits the next entry.• Press 0 to enter a space therebyaccepting a completed word.• Press 1 to enter a period (.).• Press * to display specialcharacters. See more aboutspecial characters on thefollowing pages.Numbers (123)To switch to 123 mode from Abcmode, press and hold # at anymessage entry screen until the iconin the upper left corner of the displayswitches from Abc to 123 (or viceversa).• Press Clear to backspace thecursor and delete a character.• Press and hold Clear to backspacecontinuously and deletecharacters.Punctuation and specialcharactersWhile at any text entry screen, press* to display special characters (pressand hold * if predictive text is on).You can navigate through the list ofspecial characters by using the scrollkey. Once a character is highlighted,press Use to insert the character intoyour message.■ Predictive text inputPredictive text input allows you towrite messages quickly using yourkeypad and the built-in dictionary. Itis much faster than the standardmode method, because for eachletter, you only press thecorresponding key on your keypadonce.
