Section 3B: Data Services 146Understanding MessagingNow you can send and receive emails and text messages andparticipate in Web-based chatrooms right from your phone.Messaging allows you to stay connected to friends, family, andco-workers 24 hours a day anywhere on the available network.Message TypesThere are many types of text messaging available on your phone.These appear on your screen and include numeric messages (pages),Messages, and Mail.(Voicemail provides voicemail-to-mailbox messaging. Forinformation on using your phone’s voicemail feature, see “UsingVoicemail” on page 127.)Message FoldersIncoming Updates and numeric pages are stored in folders in yourphone’s Messaging menu. You may add your own folders or use thephone’s default folders.To add a new folder:1. From the standby mode, press Menu, scroll to Messaging, andpress Select.2. Scroll to Messages and press Select.3. Scroll to My folders and press Select. (If there are no folders,the message “(empty)” displays.)4. Press Options, scroll to Add folder, press Select, type a name forthe folder, and press OK.
