Engage in instant messaging with friends and family,regardless of the mobile system or platform they are using (like the Internet), aslong as you all use the same IM service. Check with your wireless service providerfor availability.Before you can start using IM on your phone, you must first subscribe to yourwireless service provider’s text messaging service. GPRS network service isrequired to use instant messaging. You must also register with the IM service youwant to use. See ”Register with an IM service” on page 42 for more information.Note: Depending on both your IM service provider and your wirelessservice provider, you may not have access to all of the features describedin this guide.■ Register with an IM serviceBefore you can use IM, you must register with an IM service to obtain an IM username and password. You can obtain an IM user name and password by registeringover the Internet (using your computer) with the IM service provider you haveselected. During the registration process, you will have the opportunity to createthe user name and password of your choice. For more information about signingup for IM services, contact your wireless service provider.■ IM icons and menu itemsEach IM service provider has its own unique interface, so the IM menu items, screendisplay text, and icons on your phone may appear differently for each IM service. Ifyou have questions about the differences in the various IM service providers’ screentext and icons, contact your wireless service provider for more information.■ IM menusOfflineWhen you select I M from your phone menu, a list of available IM services is displayed.Select the desired IM service to access the IM offline menu options: Login, Savedconvers., and Settings.
